Default ROUND 2! PRICES LOWERED! OOBGARM IS GETTING OUT OF COLLECTING. BUY HIS STUFF. 2600 to Current

Thanks for the help on the sale everyone. And especially to those who had the patience and understanding when I made a couple of slip-ups. Trying to work 3 jobs and manually handle all of the selling has proven to be a bit too much for me, so I've taken the link down. Will likely head to ebay with the rest so I can at least have most of the process automated for me.

I'm well over halfway to my goal, so thank you again to everyone who purchased something.

    ROUND 2.

Everyone who's purchased has either received their stuff or it's on the way to them - so it's time for a second round with lower prices. Not wanting to go below the prices I have here if it can be helped.

Plus there's a handful of new stuff that wasn't on the list before - deals can be made on this stuff.

I don't want to have to make another round of sales, so help me clear the rest of it out.

    My rules:

    NO TRADES. NONE.
    Paypal only.
Everything will ship USPS. Unless it's heavy, then we'll check options. I have a scale for accurate shipping costs.
PM your wants. First come first served. PM your questions too - I don't really check the thread as much.
I'll check this a handful of times a day. Work and life are busy enough that I can't sit on here and watch like I used to.
Domestic shipping is easy to do from home, but international stuff might take a bit longer since I actually have to go to the post office.

LOCAL PICKUP IS OKAY IF YOU CONTACT ME FIRST!

    Have at.

He said majority, probably keeping a few favorites and everdrives if needed. Guy going by mas and many others over on racketboy have done the same. Fed up with feeding the beast, the expenses, the wanton desire to keep buying more crap and not use it, the escalating rabid end of things. They lost the love and taste for it almost entirely so they ditched like 95% of their games, kept a few gems of personal value, and went with flash kits. I can see the logic in it considering the current market.

This is probably a "no duh" question but, your reproduction/bootleg games WILL work in a real Genesis, right? And I mean a North American Genesis?

Yessir. All repros I'm selling are fully functional on US systems.

The Genesis games all have nice retail-style cases made up for them.

That's pretty much it. I still love the hobby and I'm hanging onto about 30% of what I started with (about 500 individual titles or so), but I'm just done spending and spending and spending. I may even go back and cull even more from what I'm keeping. I'll read about a cool game I'd missed out on or get a desire to get games in a certain genre (ie shmups) and then buy, put on the shelf, and never touch. I've done this for too long and honestly mismanaged money to a degree that I'm no longer comfortable with. Denied it was a problem for a really long time and some pretty devastating relationship issues recently put this into perspective and I made the decision that it's time to focus my energies outside of the hobby for a change and get my finances squared away so they're not a reason for concern any longer.

The only systems I know I'm definitely going to sell are extra Atari 5200 (base only) and Master System (with controllers and hookups) that I somehow ended up with. I'm likely going to sell my TurboGrafx and Saturn too, since I'm keeping a game or two for each and I haven't hooked either one up in ages. I will have a decent amount of accessories and game related stuff to clear out once the software is done. Just getting it all sorted, priced, and cataloged was a massive undertaking that unexpectedly ate up a whole weekend.

And to be honest, I'm not getting out while prices are high on retro stuff and I'm not shooting for high market value on everything. Sure, there are some games I know that will command some cash (I sold all of my Limited Run Vita stuff already, for instance), but I'm fairly confident that I can hit my goal of $6k (at least) for everything I'm going to sell.

If you're thinking about a system, let's work something out. I'd rather sell to a collector.

Thanks for PM'n me back earlier, hopefully it works out both that and for you.

I am/was in the same boat. I'm still kind of doing it which sucks, but I'm doing it in a more managed way (just handheld games because I do get to those eventually as they're small/easier to approach.) I've got a stack of GG games right now I haven't touched more than once or twice but my GG was also fubar all the time I've had it with a weak cap (dim screen) issue which just got taken care of. IT's a cheap fun and easy system to buy for as most people avoid it, even retail stores many won't carry the games as they're not Nintendo which is rightly bs. I started with thousands, unemployment killed like 80% of it, after the anger and nausea passed I've found it easier to just dump crap more and more since so I just keep what i'll use.

Problem was I did as you did, find it, buy it, mostly shelve it...so for like 5 years now I've been actively purging from like 600+ games to currently just 205 console games (ps4, gc, n64, snes, nes, genesis) and 168 handheld games (3ds/ds, gba, gbc, gb and gg.) That's it. Mind you that does not include one off LCD/tabletop handhelds, a few physical PC game copies, and all the stuff loaded into GoG and a few Steam items. So 373 physical console/handheld games going over a period of 31 years (1985 to present) is pretty piddly down from over 2000 and even more on stuff I've rotated out over the years too. I haven't put a new SNES game on the shelf in a year, NES more like 3 now. Genesis is about it console wise and even PS4 the last one I bought and opened up/used was Godzilla and Uncharted Tirlogy (which I only did most of U1 on), I have Uncharted 4 and it's sealed may never open it as I've just lost interest. Mostly just into handheld/pc games now.

Bump to this. I'm in a similar spot as a few here. I love the hobby, I love the history but the acquisition of games is running thin. At home I don't get to play my classic stuff much, which I find is OK. My daughter and my gaggle of step-kids really don't see the appeal of a NES or Atari 2600 and would rather play Minecraft on PS3, PokeMon on DS or a handful of Wii titles. I love 'em all dearly but I shake my head as the difficulty factor and looks of the old games is a turn off to them, prompting them to burn through the stack of games and then asking me to bring up the PS3. On top of that my wife doesn't play as her ex burned that bridge as he never shared his gaming with her and it was just "sit and watch me". So she's not overly interested except MAYBE Atari. Most of my gaming happens during the rare break at work on my Vita.

My collection has been slashed to just a few things and I'm even contemplating on reducing that. I do have to fight the urge to buy an old game from time to time or not go on eBay to look at magazines.

As I just said in my reply PM to Tanooki - I'm thinking that I should even pare down what I decided on keeping. I think I'm going to go for sentimental value only and try to pull at least another 100 titles out of those 500 or so, especially after I noticed that a lot of what I was hanging onto was actually more valuable than most of what I'm selling already.

I know this is going to be a huge shift in how I view the hobby, but I feel that it's one I have to make.

Trust me, you won't regret it. A year or three ago maybe, but given how the market inanely behaves now and how hard it is to enjoy finding let alone buying anything anymore it's better off just not trying and if you luck into something too good not to just leave, don't bother. Even then keep it or flip it and let the pigeons pay for it and you can use the dough for something far less stressful and more amusing. Facts are if you pare it back to 400 or less, that's still 4-0-0 games, a lot. Good luck ever finding the time to play them all through again over the years, it's plenty. If the itch ever never really dies or comes back, find one of the few remaining sensible things and wade in gently.

I ceased collecting new old games years ago, and don't buy console games any more at all. Recently I've dredged up a good two dozen games I had purchased in the early 2000s and never opened - Double Dragon GBA, Fire Emblem GBA (both) and the one for GCN, a few others. They're worth a metric ton sealed in the box as they are, and I figure if I ever want to play them - a big "if," given how long and time-consuming those games are - I am going to buy an opened copy and pocket the difference.

I just won't have the time to play all my games. I'll only buy Steam games if I know I will play and enjoy it OR it is so cheap (e.g., Humble Bundle) that I will more than get my money's worth out of it if I play it for an hour.

These days I find that, if I spend on gaming, it's a board or card game - and even then, with roughly two dozen games in the closet, I haven't had the time to play them all. It's tough to find time to get together with friends.

Not enough time for it all - not nearly enough.

Good luck Oobgarm - hope you get your finances to a place where you can be comfortable with them. While you're at it, make sure to sock a bunch away in a 401k or some other retirement savings plan, if you're like most workers and don't have a pension - you'll thank yourself later.

You are startled by a grim snarl. Before you, you see 1 Red dragon. Will your stalwart band choose to (F)ight or (R)un?

If you are still in Milford, would local pickup or meet-up be an option to save on shipping?

Great prices, packaged nicely and arrived quickly. Glad to buy from a collector--I got a few nice gaps in my collection filled for a good price. Highly recommended!
