Default What to do with large lots of Game Magazines?

I posted in the auction thread last night. I am selling off my collection that I have been acquiring since about 1992 and I have boxes and boxes of 90s and Early 2000s magazines that I am unsure what to do with. If anyone has any great ideas I would love to hear them. It pains me to recycle them.

    Thanks

If you're selling them, ship them media mail. It's MUCH cheaper than any other option.

If they aren't really worth anything and you can't find someone local to just take them, see if any of your local libraries have a free rack where people can leave old magazines for others to take as they please. I've actually acquired a few gaming mags that way, haha. Though you'd probably have to leave them in batches, since I doubt they'd want to receive a mountain of mags at once.

I've also seen game magazines for sale at thrift stores, so you could just donate them to a Value Village, Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.

Thanks. I think my plan right now is to try to sort a years worth and see if they sell on eBay.

It looks like my almost complete run of Next Generation Magazines are of some value.

Any Game Informer or PlayStation 1 specific ones (PSM, P.S.X., PSExtreme, etc...)

I have to find my list, but I"d be interested if they're in really good condition.

Yes for sure. Not sure about the really good condition, I will have to look. What issues are you looking for? Would be happy to send them for shipping costs.

They definitely have value. Sold my big stash of old mags for a few hundred a couple years ago. Craigslist em first. To hell with the fees, shipping concerns, and scambuyer tactics.

If you don't mind seeing them trashed or damaged then donating them is the way to go. I've seen full shelves full of magazines before slowly get ripped and damaged as various people read them or just looked at them, shoving them back in the shelf without a care until they were finally purchased after a week or two. Or maybe they just were thrown away if nobody bought them soon enough. These were old issues of GamePro from the mid 90's, I really wanted to buy them but I just lack the space to start storing large collections of magazines.

Donating things is the last thing I would do for anything I own as the store staff usually just don't care about the merchandise they sell, to them it's just random crap they have to sort and process.

I was presenting that as an alternative to dropping them in a trash can or recycle bin, where there is zero chance of them not getting destroyed. It's obviously best to sell gaming mags, getting some cash for yourself and assuring that they end up in the hands of someone who will enjoy them, but at least there's SOME chance of that happening at a thrift store, as opposed to absolutely none. And there's also the fact that you can deduct your donation on your taxes, and a lot of thrift stores are involved in charity and/or put a focus on hiring the disabled. So there's a number of reasons why it'd be better than trashing them.

    Here we go:

Anything that reads NEED is what I'm looking for - months are abbreviated to two letters, So it's January - Ja, February - Fe, etc.

    Seriously huge thanks!

Also interested in mags of that time period. Send me what you have, I"ll buy whole stacks if you don't wanna ship out one or two at a time. Media mail is definitely the way to go. much too expensive to ship otherwise.
