Default 2017 - Yearly Finds Thread

I know we don't really post finds anymore, and/or we just don't get good scores anymore, but I got this for free from a neighborhood buy/sell facebook group and thought it was worth sharing.

edit: never owned a 360 before, so I don't know what model this is or anything, but it clearly has a HDD and wireless adapter, and has a Gamestop remanufactured sticker, so I guess it is one of the crummy first ones. Not that I'm complaining for free! edit 2: a little checking and it looks like this is a Jasper. I gather these are more reliable (out of the fats, anyway), so I wonder why it needed refurbing.

Free is always a sweet find. It could be a load of different issues with a 360 needing a refurb. I've seen quite a few with an ethernet port error in the later fat models, but who knows. Good get either way!

I came across an indie game store I wasn't aware of before, and bought a loose copy of Challenge of Nexar for the Atari 2600 for $16.95. And it's really sad that it's been a month and a half since the beginning of the year and there's only two other posts of finds. It's also a bit disturbing that this thread hasn't been made a sticky, meaning that nobody's behind the wheel of this site anymore.

Picked up a few cheapies, as I'm cleaning up on the stuff I'm interested in on PS3 and 360 while they're super cheap.

    PS3:
    Under Night: In-Birth (PS3)-$17

    360:
    Trials HD/Limbo/Splosion Man compilation disc-$5
    Namco Museum Virtual Arcade-$18
    Capcom Digital Collection-Free

Grabbing a lot of former download only games that got disc runs, as there are a lot of 2D games that are more my style. That Namco Museum, aside from having Baraduke, has Galaga Legions among other former Live Arcade/PSN exclusives. Enjoying Limbo so far.

The return of prized findings, and wondrous treasures continue into 2017!

I picked up a couple of goodies in the last few months, might start making room for extra space in the next couple of weeks ^_^

    - Final Fantasy XV "Ultimate Collector's Edition" (Finally got it after being on the Waitlist for nearly a year )

    - Nintendo Switch (Picked up at Best Buy; I went to retrieve the system in the late afternoon, and one of the associates mentioned to me that it was good timing to stop in considering how crowded the store was during the early hours with a lot of angry people who could not get their hands on one since there were no more in stock at that time

    - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild "Master Edition" w/ Zelda theme accessories (Got the Master Edition via Gamestop online during the early hours of the reveal before they vanished a few odd hours later; brought the accessories a day later after the game was released)

    - Nier: Automata "Black Box Edition" (This one was something I kept an eye out for when the game was first revealed a few years back; quite excited to finally have it )

    That's all for now!

I lived my life with no fear nor hatred... For these traits are certain to the content of my immortal being.

I stopped at the local Family Video to rent a movie and came out with six DS games for a total of $42:

    -Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4
    -Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7
    -Lego Batman
    -Super Scribblenauts
    -Pokemon Dungeon Explorers of Time
    -Kirby Mass Attack

The kids love the Lego games plus I have the first Harry Potter Game and the Batman game, so there can be multiplayer action.

It's been years since I've contributed to this thread. Looks like it's slowed down from weekly to monthly and now yearly eh? Anyway, I've got "kind of" finds to contribute. A friend of mines friend (who's also my friend but not as close) decided to help out our friends financial situation by giving him his old video game collection stashed away in his mothers attic. My friend gave me first dibs, and since it was going to a good cause (struggling musician) I told him I didn't expect friend discounts.

We got to rummage through his old stuff this weekend which was kind of fun and back breaking. This guy had good taste in games, and even better he took real good care of his stuff. Still, some of the turbografx boxes suffered some crushing damage due to the way everything was stored. After all was said and done I walked away with these:

Almost everything is in like new condition. Only Splatterhouse and Neutopia, which are just the boxes no games, have minor crush damage. Unfortunately his mother must have thrown out a fair bit of his game stuff at one point. His Sega Genesis collection was missing completely. His Turbografx-16 system had the CD docking station, but there was no CD unit to be found. All his NES games (about 30) were missing their boxes, and he never threw them away. There was a Dreamcast present but no games to be found. I passed on a lot of stuff, but I don't really need it. He did have Last Alert, Book of Ys I & II, Ys III, and Valis II all complete for the Turbo CD, but I really don't want to start collecting for another system

Recently got an original Xbox with box, two controllers and hook ups for $25 at Goodwill. When I got the system home, it had a Battlefield game in it. The system fired up and played just fine. Only problem was I couldn't get the dang tray open again.

I stopped by a local game store that did repairs and asked if they had any belts, which I recently read could be the cause of the problem. The clerk said they sprayed the belts with belt dressing. I tried that and holy cow....it worked!

If only I knew this a couple years ago-I would have never gotten rid of my Xbox collection.

I haven't found anything worth mentioning in a while now but I did pick these Colecovision* games up at a Goodwill recently. The boxes aren't necessarily in the greatest condition but all are CIB.

*For some odd reason though, the cartridge for Congo Bongo is actually the C64 version.

I can finally cross something off on my collector goal 2016 list.

    $250 Donkey Kong Cocktail
Everything works, no manual, needs edge veneer replacement (easy), need to replace brightness pot (broken leg), needs a through cleaning and a few minor dings knocked out, needs cabinet locks both sides.
I might go full restore on this thing and have the lower cab re-powdercoated or I might knock dents out and call it good....I donno yet.

i'll post more of the story and my other finds to date later, there hasn't been much this year and I am super exhausted right now

that werid black square thing on the far left under the wrenches is a USB foot pedal used for transcription but I am gonna mod it to use it for PC games

PACMAN!!! board game. $4 It feels complete but its taped shut (as goodwill does) but THANKFULLY they didn't just slap it on there its actually nice and flat with out any bubbles under the tape which I can appreciate so I can cut it and it wont be too.... whats the word....I cant think of the word so i'll say it wont be too fucked up looking.

and then Saturday I bought the cocktail table posted above
