Nice find with that Donkey Kong! And probably the most useful layout for an arcade game from that time, as a cocktail table. Even if you get bored with it in a couple years, it's still useful as a functional table. Can't say that with an upright cabinet. Besides, sitting at a cocktail table to play games seems a more authentic experience for machines of this age, at least to me. Congratulations!

Yeah, great buy Niku! It may be common, but it's one everybody wants. Great price, too! You can swap in other classic Nintendo pcbs like DK Jr, DK 3, etc.

I go to thrift stores all the time and the only games I ever see are sports games and shovelware DS games.

I did find the Super Mario World Collector's Edition cartoon series on DVD this past weekend though. Not much to get exited about, but my 5 year old loves it and it's fun sharing some of my old childhood memories with him(even if that's the Mario series I remember least)

You and me both, buddy. But when I find DS games, the actual games have been stolen out of the cases. Every time.

I used to love going thrift store shopping. Flea markets on the weekends, too. But there's just no point, I get so discouraged now. There's nothing out there, most people have already tossed out or donated their old gaming goods or sold it on eBay. Retro game collecting has gone fairly mainstream, there's too many eyes looking over smaller and smaller scraps. It seems that retro gaming stores can't even stay in business, nobody's trading in old games, if they think they've got something valuable they sell in online. For a guy like me who doesn't buy games on the internet (there's no thrill of the hunt that way), it means coming up empty-handed every trip out. I would sometimes spend 12 hours criss-crossing the state hunting games, now it's not worth the price of gas to do so.

Last month I went to Japan for 18 days and sadly most of my money was spent on food and drinks. It was a training program that was paid by the company I work for.

There was too much too see and not too much too spend, hahaha. I bought some stuff, but I wanted to buy hundreds of games and soundtracks

I'm happy with the stuff I bought, but all the items I wanted were a bit expensive and couldn't buy it. I hope to come back to Japan ASAP with a stash of cash

I went flea market shopping today, all I picked up was a loose Gremlins with a peeling front label for the Atari 2600 for $15.

At a GameXchange store in Shreveport, LA I found two boxed and complete Interphase games for the Intellivision, Sewer Sam and Blockade Runner for $4.95 each. Then I picked up Karate for the 2600 for $9.95 and Ace of Aces for the 7800 for $5.95. Since they have a "buy 3 retro games get 1 free" special running most of the time, one of the Interphase games was technically free.

I went to a game store called Game Mechanix in Monroe, LA a few days ago. I had a nice conversation with the owner (it's always great to meet a game store owner that knows anything about any era going back more than five years) about the Emerson Arcadia 2001 he had on the shelf but hadn't priced yet, and various things. On my way out I ended up buying this Radio Shack Astro Command for $29.99 ($10 off the sticker price!) and at a GameXchange in Ruston, LA I found these Intellivision games. The previous owner seems to have put them in nice plastic clamshells and printed out boxart for them. And yet, they were the same price as loose games.

By the way, that store Game Mechanix has some good stuff in it. I can't afford Happy Birthday for the Atari 2600 or the Donkey Kong Country Competition Cart for the SNES, but at least I know where I can get them from if I needed them.

Went to a GameXchange store in Alexandria, LA a couple of days ago, and was shocked that they had boxed Atari Jaguar games there. And more importantly, one that I didn't ever pick up back in the day, Pinball Fantasies. They were overpriced of course, but I never find boxed games in the wild (with the shrinkwrap still on them, peeled off at the top to get the cartridges out) but I couldn't resist. It was $29.99 (with the Babbage's original pricetag for $59.99 on it).

Their copy of Zero-5 was priced at $135. Glad I picked it up when it came out at its original price.

The one I bought is the one on the far left. I thought I'd post this pic rather than a lone box picture once I got home.

This Saturday I bought all of this at the same place.

N64 (All games are loose: )

    Armorines
Paper Mario (Worn and it looks like someone tried to pry it open; also had rust flakes coming out when I shook it.)
    Walalae Country Club

1 Purple Translucent Controller with a worn center stick.

    1980s Computers:

Atari 600 XL (No hookups or controllers on first glance)

Texas Instruments TI99/4A System + TV Cable Switchbox, 2 Paddle Controllers & Instructions

    Papers

    Colecovision Manual (Poor shape)
    Colecovision Send-In Card
Coleco ADAM Papers; Setup Manual, Envelope and Survey Card. Strangely, the envelope's sealed without anything in it. Did someone heat it with a hair dryer and reseal it?

    Total paid for all: $2
