Default In the Hunt minus the slowdown

So, last night I played through Vanark for PS1 on my PS3, but still had a little gas in the tank before I was ready to go to bed. I decided to play some In the Hunt from the PS1 disc on my PS3, and much to my surprise, it pretty much entirely eliminated the slowdown the game is infamous for! Anybody else try this?

Also, any other games that are noticeably improved by playing PS1 on PS2 or 3 like that?

Does In The Hunt for the PS1 have the same HORRIBLE cgi rendered intro as the Saturn version?

Nope. It's just title screen and arcade attract mode.

Sold! I hate that stupid, terrible 90's cgi bullshit on the Saturn version so much. Shit literally makes me roll my eyes. I'll have to keep my eye out for the PS1 version, unless it's stupid expensive, or on some Irem collection I don't know anything about.

Interesting. How does it do on PS2? IIRC the PS3 is basically emulating a PS1 -- isn't it? -- so I wonder if it's actually an issue of inaccurate emulation.

I remember buying it a few years ago at something around $30 disc-only for the PS1, which seemed to be about the going rate then. Don't know about now.

Oh, well, maybe not then. It's probably worth it, but there are a few more retro titles that take priority in the $30+ bracket at the moment.
