Good sites for history of classic video games

I figured this would be easy to do from Google or something, but hardly any site I found was worth it.

It must be the historian blood in me, but I'm looking for some websites that give some detail about the period of early videogaming -- from, say, 1972 to 1986. I have the books allready, of course, and I know about some of the best sites like Atari-history.org, atariprotos.com, and several others, but I'd like to find a site that has accurate information, updated, interesting tidbits and what not thrown in, and not much personal bias.

Last part aside, something like what the Blue Sky Rangers have on their homepage (although I don't expect it to be THAT detailed. )

I've allready gone through all the links here at DP and they all either are dead, not what I wanted, or too little real historical info.

Yup, been to that site. No, no recent updates, but a good story of both consoles, computers, games, AND people all woven in there. Very good site.

I have books allready. The two best books, IMHO -- Kent's 'Ultimate History of Video Games' and Herman's 'Phoenix'. None of the other ones I checked out in the past are worth it. (Well, I might Supercade one day, but a new edition is susposed to be out soon, and Barnes and Nobles wants just WAY too much money for what is, ultimatly, a coffe table book).

Gamespy did the "History of Video Games" a few years ago.
I'm sure it's still up there somewhere if you look.

You need Leonard Herman's Phoenix: The Fall and Rise of Videogames. It's the ONLY history book you'll ever need.

DP, I said I allready have BOTH Kent's and Herman's books on the history of video games.

I acutally like Kent's book better -- he has interviews and other interesting tidbits, it's a easier reading style, and the flow of the book is organized better.

(No offense to Mr. Herman, of course, who I know posts here -- I've allready told him about this. I DO like BOTH books, though, and suggest anyone buy both of them.)
