    Default Virtual Boy Recommendations

What are some worthwhile Virtual Boy games that cost about $20 or so? And what's a fair price for a working VB console?

Wario Land is the most essential game for the system, IMO. It uses the 3D effect well, without being annoying, and is just a really good game. $15 seems to be about the going rate. I played Vertical Force for the first time this year and had fun with it. It is a pretty standard vertical scrolling shmup, but enemies/obstacles come on both 'high' and 'low' planes, which you can switch between at will. I want to like Red Alarm, but I'm just generally frustrated by that style of game; its a rail shooter kind of like Star Fox.

Wario Land is definitely tops, and I'd go with Mario's Tennis as my second favorite. I couldn't get into Red Alarm either. I find it very disorienting. Panic Bomber is a fun puzzle game, though it doesn't get much out of being a Virtual Boy game.

I know which one that you shouldn't get, and that's Waterworld. It's a crappy game. There's a reason all the other versions were scrapped before release, it's terrible. I guess Nintendo really wanted anything to get released on the Virtual Boy, so that one made it through. It's in no way worth its exorbitant asking price.

Galactic Pinball and Wario are my favorites.

Warioland is great for that price. Also, Vertical Force (top-down shooter), Red Alarm (like Starfox) and Tetris 3D are worth a try.

I know it may sound dumb, but Golf works and it doesn't cost much. It plays nicely and T&E Soft is known for good golf so when you run their engine in 3D it just adds a little something extra. Red Alarm (aka wannabe Starfox), Galactic Pinball, Mario Clash and Tennis, Teleroboxer, and if you're really lucky and not condition picky Nester's Funky Bowling work. Also there's that V-Tetris import, doesn't do anything special but it's nice for Tetris.

Tolero Boxing is the game that has the best use of the 3D effect and it's fun.
