I'm excited, but seeing the reaction from a lot of people who don't even know what a TG-16 is was funny. Also, does the US only get one version while Japan gets two? Why not just make a Turbo Duo Mini for everyone? Weird.

Yeah, I was just on Twitter and laughing at all the kiddies who have no idea what it is and are mad that it's not Metal Gear/Castlevania/Suikoden/etc. Oh well, their loss. I agree that the two versions for Japan are weird. Maybe they'll have different libraries, and they're trying to get people to double dip, since the PC Engine was a lot more successful in Japan than the TG-16 was in the US?

This is definitely the most tempted I've ever been to pick up one of these mini systems. While I have a moderate number of PCE games, I can count the number of US releases I have on my fingers. And with the prices of Turbo stuff these days, hell no to buying the originals. Plus, I just have a soft spot for NEC systems in general, and considering Konami has done little but piss on Hudson's grave since acquiring them, I'm glad to see Konami showing some respect for Hudson's legacy for once.

If the emulation is solid.... Day One for me - and depending on any hardware (bundled controller type) / game lineup differences, I may buy more than one.

I haven't been interested in any of the other mini systems, I have a couple PC Engines and a PC Everdrive / Turbo Everdrive, and sure this is just another emulation box - but it'll happily flow some money to Konami in support of their classic Hudson IPs. I also love the idea of an officially licensed PC Engine that is even smaller than an original PC Engine.

Yeah, I'll probably be getting one of these as well. TG-16 stuff seems to be far, far rarer than anything Nintendo or Sega ever made. I've been attending the MIT Swapfest nearly every month it's open for well over a decade now, and while I've seen loads of NES/SNES/Master System/Genesis stuff, the amount of TurboGrafx *anything* I've spotted can be counted on a single monkey's paw. Not sure if it's because not much TG-16 stuff was sold in this region, or if it's just plain rare in general everywhere. Will definitely be watching for reviews.

Konami owns most of the library now, or could license the rest of the big ones. I have a feeling there will be anger as the NA release probably won't have many of the Japanese favorites that were never released here.

I'd be perfectly happy even if they just stuck to US releases for the TG-16 model. I mean, there are so many US releases that are good but also crazy expensive like Dynastic Hero, Magical Chase, Neutopia II, etc. they could include, giving people an opportunity to acquire them in a legal way without breaking the bank (especially now that Wii VC is gone, since a lot of good stuff had been available via that).

Why? People like these mini systems, and nobody is forcing you to buy them. The more of them, the merrier.

Well aren't you the grumpy one For myself i have no problem with konami releasing a TG16 mini the console itself was very underrated for it's time.I see this, mini TG16 allowing more people to play it officially.Beside the fact i was a early adopter of the console right after it's release. The damn thing was very niche and you were in the minority if you owned a TG16.If any thing at all konami better make sure the emulation is done right if i were them id let M2 handle it.

I hope they announce some other games soon. I have most of the ones they've mentioned. I don't have a large Turbo library but I at least have a lot of the well-regarded ones.

I'm shocked they aren't putting Bonk 1 through 3 on it right off the bat. You'd think that the console's unofficial mascot would be the first thing announced. That's like making a Sega Genesis mini console without a Sonic game on it.

Wow...it's like my teenage years are returning in regards to gaming. NES and SNES mini, Genesis Mini now a TG-16 mini. I'm down with this. If I can get the same gaming feel with these minis as opposed to having the "real deal", I'll be a happy man. I can then revert my hacked NES Mini to just playing NES and Famicom games and take off the TG-16 stuff.

The gray Coregrafx seems to be intended for the European market, which perhaps is a nod to the import scene in France during the 90s where the PC Engine didn't go unnoticed. Yes, it really doesn't make much sense, I know there was a PAL TurboGrafx. It's arguable that it was still lesser known than its Japanese counterpart in PAL territories, and would have saved on tooling another plastic injection mold.

I want that mini TG16, which is kind of funny because the lilliputian NES, SNES, PS1 (lol) and Genesis iterations didn't grab me at all and I see them for what they are, cheap lil' rom boxes. Nonetheless the TurboGrafx oozes cool like no other game system in my mind. With the inclusion of CD-ROM games as an option and Konami as the IP holder it seems almost certain we're going to see Rondo of Blood on it. Worst case scenario the thing will be jailbroken or hacked or however you want to phrase it to enable customization.
