Default Compiling a list of nostalgic Gachapon/Pokemon styled games.

I’ve got a certain nostalgia for games in a particular style that I’ll try my best to describe. During the era of Pokemon’s launch (and a bit before and after), there were quite a few games that attempted to appeal to that same audience (kids, young adults; “shonen” crowd) with brands based on gachapon (collectible/customize-able toys or creatures), TCG’s, or tamagotchi (creatures you raise). I’m looking to make a list of all the games I can find that play like these games made for that demographic, regardless of platform, quality, or language (a lot of these will likely be Japan exclusive). I’m particularly looking for any niche or obscure games I may not be aware of. Any platform is fair game, including more obscure stuff like Wonderswan, both before or during that late 90s/early 00s era (stopping at GC/PS2/Xbox and NDS, excluding PSP).

Linked is my list so far (excluding any Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokemon, & Digimon games I don't care about): https://pastebin.com/rTmH7yQX

    What else am I missing?

For N64, there's a Tamagotchi board game, and I'd say Onegai Monsters and Zool would count as Pokemon clones. On GBC, there's Magi Nation and Metal Walker.

Thanks! While I know Tamagotchi itself had a few games, I think I'm gonna go ahead and exclude it because it's got a different audience in mind (young girls) than what I'm looking for (shonen, which would be aimed more at boys). It just happened to be the most popular example I could think of for describing that type of gameplay.

Otherwise, Onegai Monsters, Magi Nation, and Metal Walker all look like great additions. I couldn't find the game called "Zool" that you were talking about, though, unless you meant this strange looking platformer (in which case, I don't see the connection).

There were several on the GBC and GBA around 2000 and 2001 but their names escape me. The titles sounded similar to Pokemon and had the binary thing going

The full title is Zool: Majuu Tsukai Densetsu. A direct romanization of the title would be "Zuuru", so sometimes it's represented as "Zool", "Zoor", etc.

Oh wow, found it now. Google clearly wasn't cooperating before, lol. Anyway, had no clue this game existed on N64, but I'm definitely into it. Added!

Whoa, I didn't realize there was a Robopon for the N64. Interesting.

Here are some more you may wish to include or not include (these are off the top of my head) as they might not quite reach the criteria you're looking for:

    - Jade Cocoon for PS1; Jade Cocoon 2 for PS2
    - Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters: Champions for DS; Fossil Fighters Frontier for 3DS
    - PSO Episode III: C.A.R.D. Battle for GameCube
    - Duel Masters for PS2; the two Duel Masters games for GBA (may be more that weren't released out West)
    - I'm pretty sure there were some Cardfight! Vanguard games released in Japan.
    - There were some SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters games released. I remember at least one was on DS. I think there was one on the Neo Geo Pocket.
    - The Spectrobes games on DS
    - Dragonseeds on PS1
    - Mega Man Battle Network Games?

Awesome! Thanks for so many entries! This greatly expands my list. I added pretty much everything here, as well as a few others I've found, to my list.
