    I don't think some blurry screen shots of a TV screen and somebody guessing at what the blurs are really proves anything (the guy couldn't even be bothered to hook the N64 up via s-video). I don't think this "mystery" can ever really be solved, despite that every few years there seems to be new "news stories" claiming it has been. For that matter, I think there's a lot of Western projection going on here. Why do people automatically assume it must be blurred English text? The developers are Japanese, and it's so severely blurred that it could just as well be blurred kana. Furthermore, it's not uncommon for manga artists to use random characters or squiggles when they want to represent text without actually placing any identifiable text, so the texture on the statue might just be giving the illusion of text rather than ever having actual language on it.
