Alright, we've gone off track a little here, lol.

I once heard that Nintendo's strategy in the 16-bit era was to make relatively few mainline series (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc) games, but those games be top quality. Meanwhile Sega's games were slightly lower quality, but there were a lot more of them. A few A+ games versus a lot of B grade games. It really is a quantity vs. quality debate.

Has Aussie been present in the last few days? I'm starting to worry I may have been a TEENSY bit too aggressive...

On topic, I know that with my recent fascination with speedruns.... I tend to find Sonic ones boring, but Mario ones (especially romhacks) tend to entertain me a great deal.

It's funny, just I find Sonic, the speedy character, more enjoyable to play than to watch someone else play.

I like watching Sonic speedruns myself as well as playing Sonic.

There's a lot more to SMW than any individual 16-bit Sonic game. It's one of the best 16-bit titles around and does have a number of advantages over Sonic; unlimited continues, a save feature (though Sonic 3 got a save feature as well), and much more content. The Sonic games' advantages include the rings system and more vibrant colors. I happen to prefer playing some of the 16-bit Sonics over SMW, probably due to Sonic's faster pace, but it's very much a personal preference thing.
