Default Atlus Removing Code of Princess From 3DS E-Shop Mar 31st

Edited - I originally thought this was for the switch version, not the 3DS version and had a mod change the title for me. I don't know why I thought it was the switch version, must have read it too quickly and not paying attention.

And this is why physical media is better than digital download. Thank goodness there's a physical release, or how else would people get the game 10 years from now? Physical release - that's the only way someone born on January 30, 2020 will get to play this game (once they're old enough).

At least they're announcing it. Many companies just remove stuff all the time with no forewarning.
Real collectors drive Hondas, Toyotas, Chevys, Fords, etc... not Rolls Royces.

For this specific release, yes. To play the game in a general sense, no. Even if no physical 3DS version existed, there would still be other ways to play the game. Most gamers prefer to play the "definitive" version of games, so if there's a newer version with more features and/or improved performance, few will care about an older release, whether or not a digital version is available. Few will track down aging, secondhand hardware and physical software when there's an updated version that's regarded as better and is available on more modern hardware.

It depends if the newer versions are actually better than the earlier releases. Look at the HD versions of Silent Hill 2 and 3, they're considered worse than the original releases. There's lots of games like this where the earlier versions are better than the later ones. I don't know if this applies for this specific 3DS game though.

I think with this particular 3DS title, there may not be much value in having the digital version on your system. The physical 3DS version still holds some value especially if it is the version with the box and soundtrack. There are some games out there in which the physical copies increase in value once the digital version is pulled, but this is a unique scenario where there is another version on a newer system, so it hasn't increased the value. I wonder if the reasoning behind it getting pulled is that Nicalus has the publishing rights to the game now?
