This does look like a well made console, especially compared to other knock off clone systems that have been produced by other companies. The main issue I would consider is the price, as that's a lot for a system that people with original games would already own. But with original hardware becoming unreliable, this is a good option. I just wish this would include standard composite output in addition to HDMI so this could be connected to a standard CRT as an option. I play classic consoles on essentially period correct type monitors and as this is only HDMI I wouldn't consider buying it for practical use.

Also good to see long time posters in this thread, it certainly has been awhile.

i wanna say the DAC has been out for a while...
at the same time though it didnt interest me, i get their consoles to play games on high def TVs, if i want to play on my PVM then i'll just slap a OG console on there and call it good. when i have the space of course

I have a Sony KV-32HS420 CRT that has an HDMI port. The games look awesome on it in 480p.

I wasn't aware of this, so that's pretty good. Though it doesn't actually have straight composite outputs and appears to need an additional adapter to accomplish that type of hookup. I know RGB is better quality, but plenty of visual effects were made to take advantage of limited composite output.

I would also prefer original consoles too, I'm only concerned about long term reliability as the disc drives and lasers can/will all fail eventually with replacement parts getting difficult to acquire. Plus the general failing capacitors with this console specifically. In the past I've pretty much insisted on original hardware with a die hard collector mentality so it's rare for me to consider any aftermarket console worthy of purchase. This just seems infinitely better quality than something like the Retron 5. Personally I have an original console so I wouldn't need this, assuming my console is still working as it's been years since I've actually hooked it up.

It's also great to have CRTs with HDMI inputs, but those are pretty rare to find if looking to purchase. Maybe I'll come across one locally someday.

Any console by analogue are not sold at retail.Unless you find it secondhand but by then sellers will charge double for it.Recently since they discontinue the super nt and mega sg used they go for allot.

I mostly meant finding a CRT with HDMI inputs locally. Though I probably wouldn't buy any analogue consoles unless I randomly came across them locally either, I mostly just don't need them that badly. I'm assuming they ship from the US so there would also be duty added to the already expensive costs.

Yeah there shipping is expensive since the bank they use is in china ouch ! Far as CRT goes i wish i had the chance to buy a PVM before they become valuable to retro gamers.

Just find a Sony Hi-Scan. They do everything a PVM does and more. Most people are just trying to give away those heavy beasts.

I own a Mega-SG and an NT Mini Noir. I had planned on purchasing this, but decided against it. I love Analogue products, but the reality is that a Mister setup just does the same exact thing as every Analogue system, but in one package. If you're playing off roms or a flashcard, there is pretty much no reason to buy it. The only reason why I don't have Analogues SNES system, is that I had a console copier back in the day, so I have no real physical SNES collection. Hence, no need to own a system. Same with the Duo.

The Mister is really the way to go unless you own a lot of physical carts, and truly desire playing off them.

I honestly did all my PCE collecting already. I mean there are titles to look foward to, but on the other hand I pretty much experienced it on a real TV, and on my computer. The only person I honestly see purchasing this is somebody who has not figured out how to run stuff on your computer and or ( like me previously ) have purchased the actual unit.

I am still blown-away by the experience and till this day I say to myself. PCE > NES. Nintendo obviously looked at the prices but lets be realistic. The prices would have dropped over time and we would not need the SNES for a very long time. My only problem with that is the possibility of no FX microchip and no specialized chips add-ons, and no Satilite-view ( like those home-made RPG maker games ). Think about how the costs would have been justified.

NEC + Nintendo + Red + Konami ( when they were great and not jerks ), it would have wiped SEGA out making them dependent on the Amiga. The SNES could have been the Genesis by logic. I would have love to see a Motorola SNES + mAster-System + Genesis + 32X, but alais we will never know.
You also have to consider the creation of the SONY sound-chip. My good word we would just have to live with regular red-book audio-tracks. Rather then carts.

When the PC + CD world started to become a reality Nintendo games would have been copied, with pirates selling everything to anything on the side, along with home-brew games and software popping up. Imagine "The Guy Game" on the PCE in all it's glory, or the actual amount of AV ( audiovisual ) models CD would be flying around.

I guess the carts was good for censorship and keeping within the "kids toy" mainstay. It did way better then the Dreamcast and there lame GD-roms, dummy space.

I had a chance to play with my Analogue Duo and it is a solid piece of kit. I thought I would have preferred the Analogue Duo's CD drive to be a top loader for it's simplicity and easy access to the disc. But after handling the Analogue Duo for awhile, I realized that a top loading CD drive would have made the Analogue Duo more flimsy feeling, with hinges, lids and latches likely becoming easily broken liabilities. But I wish Analogue had included a emergency eject pinhole for the CD drive.

I own hundreds of PC Engine games on various formats and regions and everything I tested ran without problems. I'm using a 65" OLED TV with a 5.1 surround sound system and did have to change my TV's screen from 16.9 to 4.3 for the best picture. I set the Analogue to 480p with RGB color to get the best looking video for my preference. I noticed that some in game sound effects were coming from my rear speakers, but maybe this was only happening on CD games. I expected only front left and right stereo so I was pleasantly surprised hearing those effects coming from back speakers.

The original PC Engine controllers I tried worked fine but I found that having easy access to the Analogue Duo's OS made using 8BitDo's TG16 wireless gamepad the easiest way to play. Oddly, the home button on the 8BitDo which brought up the Duo's menu screen only worked for me when wired. In Bluetooth Mode the home button simply paused the game. I didn't play with that too much and maybe other button combinations would have brought up the menu.

My PC Engine consoles are white and my Analogue Duo is black, but after seeing how closely Analogue matched the cream color of my PC Engine consoles, I kinda envy having the white version giving me reason to double dip. I have already purchased two SuperGrafx games now that I have the hardware to play them. If only the Analogue Duo would have been capable of playing PC-FX games too. I could have justified adding a whole new collection of games to my library.

I think the Analogue Duo is a great back-up system for people owning original PC Engine/Duo hardware and software.

I am going to be honest here. Looking at this is like looking at opening a bank account.
    What are my options?
Do I need this in my life?
    Are there any bonus features?

Reggie Philis ( etc name please correct ) in his book breifly talked about "the culture". That got me thinking. His previous CEO positions and current ones, and taking a hard look at these products and where they are at now.

Dominos - is allowing marketing of Black ( African American ) + LGBT ( Homosexual ) inside an Anime.
Nintendo - new CEO basically is saying "We need more sales".

Back to the culture. When I see a woman who clearly needs to go to an eye-check-up, with her hair held back, and clearly is fat, living inside of a NYCHA building, making NYCHA complaints. I think why does this woman with some kind of "Anime-shirt" on have any sense to go to the doctor about her eye condition.

I apologize if I make somebody depressed.

What does this have to do with this PC-Engine machine. Granted yes it looks auwsome and I want it.

However the deal is this. I have a real PC-engine, and a real CD-rom system2, and back up save cards and devices. Granted yes in order to keep the saves inside the PC-Engine functioning you have to keep it plugged in 24/7 ( with that big "yamato" AC Adapter which I could use a smaller sine version of ). I own the physical copy of Castlevania and even purchase fake discs just to test them.

    Here is the deal.

    1) Make it look like a SNES/NES/Famicom design.
    2) Make a licensed copy of thriller with the unlicensed version on the PC-engine
    3) Make sure we can use an NES/SNES/Genesis, etc light-gun. Even if the gun has to use the wii-bar,
or Superscope, or the Master-system light-gun ( like with Zillion second controller ), or Saturn-light-gun
( like with Scud Disposable Assassin ), and make sure it could work with Triller.
    4) Make sure their is a composite AV or RF out for this lightgun or Wii-bar plug-in for Wii-mote in light-gun mode, or even the SNES Super-scope RF ( Wii-bar same thing ?? ).

They ( whoever made this ) might as well make a Gunpei-express gaming system and allow us to play
Gameboy and Wonderswan games. Might as well include the ability to use NES and SNES, or even Genesis games, to PS1-PS3, and Saturn, 32X, and blah blah. See my problem here?

Okay you ( whoever ) made a game system. Yeaaahhhhhh!!!! I mean part of me would jump on this. I own PC-engine games and would like to play some Turbo games and the SuperGrafx all in one. Then
the other me says ( in the back of mind whispering )

"It is not the original hardware"

That is where I pull back. Giant Gameboy that looks like a gameboy I could hump like a dog or rabbit in heat. Okay ++ Sexy Slim Gameboy Koisk with BrainBoy backup features. Okay ++ But when you have another gameboy and another gameboy and no backup features for my pokemon. Why?

    Insert Picardo Face-Palm

I see why somebody would buy this but right now I am comfortable with my current setup.
Ned Flanders would buy this for Ned Flanders reason, but I would rather be Moe on this one.

Half the time i can't figure out what you're saying on these long winded post.Dude settle down you're gonna have a heart attack at the rate you're going currently. You can brag all you want about having original hardware but it won't last forever.Analogue is just giving fans a option if they don't feel like messing with the maintenance or price of owning the original.Heck,i few years ago i had to have the turbo-cd gears replaced and recapped because the unit broke down and i'll be glad when i'll sell it finally to.

Good grief! Someone managed to turn the Analogue Duo into the most expensive NEC library emulation device ever. Isn't that thing like $300 shipped?

I'm not sure what the big deal is? Frankly I was under the impression that everything Analogue produced was "jailbroken" out of the box. I feel like the primary user of their stuff is the streaming community, and if you're not part of that, it's not really that important.

What on earth are you even going on about here? Your post is so incoherent that I don't know what to make of it, but I suggest you read the "Don't be a Misanthrope" section of the FAQ.
