SEGA announces no more mini nor micro consoles for the foreseeable future

Sega isn't planning more mini consoles: 'We are not a retro company'. Mini consoles based on Sega's Saturn or Dreamcast aren't in the works.

Too bad, but I'm also not surprised. Best bet for Saturn and Dreamcast games that aren't available for modern systems in any form, in my opinion, is to have the original systems and install MODEs in them. They're pricey but still a hell of a lot cheaper than building up a collection of US Saturn and Dreamcast games these days.

It's likely not worth the development costs for those consoles, to emulate them, and have it all fit on a micro with limited storage.

I don't get the Sega of today. They announce last year they're reviving a bunch of dormant IPs, then turn around last month and delist virtually every available game that is on the marketplace that has to do with those IPs. They go out of their way to make this announcement that they're not a retro company and not making mini consoles.... then partner with one of the shittiest junk console manufacturers to release a line of mini consoles based on their IPs.

Other than what's been developed in conjunction with M2, everything they've released to do with their retro titles is just pure ass. They've spent the past 25 years devaluing their own catalog by by either shoving out substandard ports or prostituting it out to every two-bit company on the market.

Even Atari has moved away from the hotels and speaker hats, and is making decisions that seems to be fostering a lot of goodwill and excitement with their fanbase. I'm assuming it's financially viable because they're doubling down on their efforts. The only Sega successes are when developers (fans) outside Sega license their products.

Sega say there no longer a retro company yet they have no problem licensing out to my arcade.

Still i am looking forward to VF6.

In general though sega can't seem to make there mind up on what direction there going.

SEGA wants people like me and you. To take our licenses, and pay them royalties for using there properites. Point being SEGA is dead. Sammy holdings owns SEGA. Everything is a gimmick with them. They have to compete with

"Fortnite" "Minecraft" "Roblox" and other builder + FPS games we have parents old enough to be our kids, making kids and they just give them Android games. We are talking about the people who never liked or respected videogames at all, and SEGA/Sammy knows this.

They want there games to be played by those people. It is the same reason why "Advanced Wars" and "Mario v. Donkey Kong" got remake after remake. Went from pre-rendered to super-detailed 3d in your face ( of course without the Pauline we all know and love from the GB game. ).

Tencent ( a Chinese company ) is the biggest money maker. Why? Personal data, and people actually buying garbage via Android ( bonuses and more ).

We do not need a Sega Saturn, or Dreamcast mini. We need the idea of making these things stop. It is a slap in the face to us the consumers and those who enjoyed these things when we were kids and younger. We need to let them die or enjoy them as is. Via meet up parties, families or blah-blah-blah....( just saying ).

Segata Satanchiro is a joke dressed up as Rambo. Rambo is a slap in the face and not tribute to military, and while have some merit is just sad to see Segata in that uniform. Where is the Segata Sanchiro remake mini-game? Nintendo got Mario-party 1-9 ???? Nintendo remakes Donkey-Kong and so many others to death.

Even my Wii gets more love for all the Wii-Ware out there.

Sega just does not know how to compete and or does not want to. They are just part of Sammy, and Sammy is a Pro nationalist Japanese company, and we are just ganjin ( orges, enemy, puglies, devils, outsiders ), and they like Nintendo Bowser led, just wants our monies.

They ( Sega owned by Sammy ) but that is just for fun
