1up Restorations is headed up by George Portugal, who in addition to being an experienced modder is also the Chief Preservationist for Long Island Retro Gaming. Our popular "Fix It Friday" videos on YouTube have not only given inexperienced would be modders an entry point in to the world of modifications and repairs, but have also helped to strengthen the bonds in the classic gaming community.
Anyone here try these services from this repair shop?

I needed a Colecovision done, was going to inquire with Ruggers but they always seem to be swamped. What's really whacky nowadays is how all these modding services require you the customer to source the boards required.

I'm lucky to have a husband who is not only also into retro gaming like me but is a bit of a tinkerer, so any mod or repair that's beyond my skills he can handle. He's done a lot of work on our CRTs, made a consolized MVS, modded a couple handhelds to have backlit screens, has replaced dying capacitors and fixed other issues, etc. The only hard part is convincing him to work on the systems he doesn't have much interest in, haha. He doesn't really care about anything Atari or pre-third gen, but he did eventually fix the 7800 we found (spotted some damage on the board or something and put in a jumper wire). I'm hoping he can someday figure out the issue with my Colecovision. He put in a little work years ago, but it didn't solve the issue. Might need an entirely new power switch (if that's even the issue, though, from what I've read, it often is).

My advice is to get one of these, resolved multiple issues I was having. The OEM power supplies are terrible.

PS: What part of the country are you in? I need my CRT serviced!

Haha, we're in NYC. I've been telling him for years that he could totally make a side hustle out of his tinkering if he wanted to, but so far, he hasn't been interested.

Thanks for the recommendation for the Colecovision. It turns on, but I get garbled graphics. I've heard it can be related to the power switch, but we really should check everything regarding the power. We'll have to see if the power supply is causing any issues.
