Recent news states that now, if you have the ESP32 Wi-Fi module for your SEGA Saturn, then you can stream video games and other software to your Saturn from your Linux, Mac, Windows, or other PC via a SMB network drive share. Just install Ced's Fenrir firmware for the Optical Drive Emulator to the Saturn / ESP32 and then you can dynamically transfer any chosen game, game-in-development, fan translation, ROM hack, or other software from your PC to your computer network to run on your SEGA Saturn. While the firmware is not perfect and has limitations like flawed Red Book (CDDA) music playback, the firmware is very good or even sometimes practically perfect at most functions and features. The developer is dedicated to improving the firmware frequently so surely this will improve rapidly with time.
(Sorry in advance if I got any of the technical details wrong, I only briefly read over one article about the technology.)
All this already works very well for lots of SEGA Saturn games, so if you have already given it a try, then let us know with a reply how it went please!
And thank you to everyone who made this technology possible!
