Default What brand will your next generation console be?

    Hi!

I would like to know what brand of next generation consoles you are...

A - most of all looking forward to because of the hardware specs and/or new innovations.

B - expecting to sell most units and temporary become the leader of the market.

C - planing to buy for your own use (if you have to pick one only).

Thank you for reading this message.

    /regards Magnus

I'm holding out for the Odyssey 4.

Seriously, my next console will probably wind up being the Gamecube, though I'm seriously considering a Dreamcast so I can do the MAME thang with it.

I'm also seriously jonesing for a GBA, especially since I could then plug my GBA right into the Gamecube.

...well I was thinking of the successors to Gamecube, PS2, XBOX (what ever their names will be) and the new Phantom. Sorry for not mentioning that!

...and luckily there will be some competition on the handheld market too after Nokias release of N-gage, PSP from Sony, and if the rumors are right something called Tapwire.

Too early to say probably... though given my track record, no doubt something from Nintendo

    PC Compatible.

Seriously though, if you're talking about unreleased consoles then who knows. It's too early to know anything about any of them.

I was lucky enough to find a PS2 at the local Goodwill for ten bucks, but beyond that I have little interest in purchasing either a Gamecube or X-Box. Donations, however, are always welcome and heartily encouraged.

Seriously, as the updated location in my profile says, I live on the back end of Moore's Law. In other words, I generally don't become interested in a console until it's been discontinued. So as far as "next-gen" is concerned, I probably won't care to even look at them until all the kiddies are tying their stomachs up in ulcers about "next-next-gen".

With that in mind, I'll probably look seriously at both Sony's new console and portable. It's too bad Sega is out of the hardware bidnith, because I'm really developing an appreciation for their hardware and am currently having a torrential love affair with my newly-acquired Dreamcast.

And if I can indulge in some seriously wishful thinking, it would be great if Atari (nee Infogrames) developed some backbone and got into the console market. But alas, Atari is a French-owned company now, so PDF's Odyssey4 will probably be released before this ever happens

A next gen console for me better have either an Atari logo, or an SNK logo on it.

    <invitation to flame>

I'm gonna say that I'd be most excited about what Microsoft brings to the table in the next generation of consoles. So far I think the Xbox has the most exciting features of any console in this generation (although the other two have their respective pluses and minuses). One thing you can never count out in Microsoft is the massive ability to be able to take a hit in getting the hardware out of the door (see: Xbox). This allows them to pack in a ton of great features for a competitive price. That said I'm pretty please with what the Xbox offers this generation, but I can't wait to see what they're going to be able to do with the next generation of machines. If only they could break into the Japanese market a little better, I think they would even give Sony a run for their money.

I will wait to see which console offers the most, and has the best specs, which will most likely be the Xbox 2 !!

i'll own them all eventualy, i take no sides in this battle. lets pray that the battle is well fought, that means better things for the consumer. let them fight it out, make better machines, launch amazing exclusive titles and go for lower console prices! then hopefully collapse in a big bankrupt heap so i can buy bagloads of games in one shot!

Sony Playstation 3 - I like RPG's (like MILLIONS of other people), it's the only console that will have them. Same reason the PS2 is so far in the lead.

I'll buy nintendo's new console first, it's sure to have the best exclusives (IMO). I'm hoping that nintendo's console will be the best seller this time, but i'm predicting that it will be sony's again. nintendo is also going to announce something at e3 2004 that is not the successor to the gcn, i'm very curious what that will be too.
