Default Semi-annual call to TOTAL CARNAGE players: perfection?

    TOTAL CARNAGE!

We've tossed this one around in the past without success, but for the sake of thoroughness, let's do it again.

    A) Have you ever captured THE REAL General Ahkboob?

    B) Have you ever gotten ALL of the prizes in the Pleasure Domes?

    C) If you answered "yes" to either of the above, do you have proof of your greatness?

    Discuss.

Easier way to do this: step into the swirling portal at the beginning of the game and enter AZAZ as your password. Bam, you're in the pleasure dome. Once there, sweep from left to right, inching up slowly to get all the prizes.

Ah! But methinks 'tis not so easy after all.

We haven't seen proof of the Ahkboob capture without employing the AZAZ code, and...

To date, nobody has provided screenshots of a "perfect" pass through the Pleasure Domes. Prizes are hidden behind statues, etc. and even the most careful players haven't reported in with success. Yet.

    Can anybody claim victory?

Sounds like a whole lot of annoying hoop jumping to me. The designers hint at something wonderful (most likely mysogenist, given all the scantily clad chicks in the ending) happening when you collect every last dime in the pleasure dome, but is it worth exploring every nook and cranny just to trigger the secret ending?

To tell the truth, I'm not even so much interested in the possibility of an alternate "ending" as I am in whether or not it's actually possible. If it's possible, someone should be able to do it.

Turmell is a notoriously good game player, so I'd bet that it's possible, just extremely difficult.

But we still don't know for sure, hence the challenge to provide some screenshots or video.

Has anyone done it in the SNES or Jaguar versions?

    Jaguar... version?
I heard there was a prototype Genesis version floating around somewhere. I'd sure like to play it.

Better bring a friend. I tried gathering all the loot by myself and it's literally impossible. Some of the prizes are conveniently placed so that you can't grab all of them by yourself... futhermore, if you take too long, you'll burst into flames.
I'm thinking of jury rigging MAME so that I can control both players with one joystick, having the second player move in the opposite direction of the first so I can gather everything more quickly and get the strategically placed items. I'll let you know how that turns out.

True. I think it's impossible for one player to snag all of the prizes around the Mutoid Men statues without losing some to the automatic scrolling of the screen.

I tried this the other night, with a joypad and keyboard. It helps if you have the second player stay at the bottom of the screen, to keep it from scrolling up. I still didn't get all of the treasure, even though I checked behind all of the columns and statues, and even under that snake-headed entrance.

Maybe you've got to shoot something to uncover even more items.
We need to talk to Turmell about this... if anyone ought to know, he would. Nobody else seems to, though. I looked on GameFAQs and there's a surprising drought of information about this game.

If there is an alternate ending, wouldn't some careful romhacking reveal its presence?

I'd thought about that too; that's also one of the reasons I'm more interested in knowing whether or not it's actually possible to grab every prize. Leave it to Turmell to get under our skin like this...
