    Default RGB monitor question...

    here

the above auction comes with a RGB monitor... but I don't know if it syncs to 15 khz. If it doesn't, then I don't want it, if it does, I'm grabbing it. Thing is however I can't find -any- information on this monitor. Anyone know anything about it?

Well, if the NTSC C64 is running on it, then it must be 15 KHz. But I wouldn't take for granted that it's even an RGB monitor without first looking it up by model number. That pink screenshot looks awfully fishy.

I sort of know where you could get a Sega Teradrive monitor, but it's $100 and...well, you don't want that. I want that. Not for that price, though.

I can't see getting an old C64 monitor for RGB :{ Too small, and they didn't make them as sharp as they do now (though it remains to be seen if that really mattered past around 1985).

That does look alot like a standard Commodore 1084 monitor. Just a Sears version.

I would guess that this monitor would work, but I'm certainly not positive. But it does look like it would. If I saw this at a thrift, I would buy it and take my chances.

Yeah, I would say nyet on buying that without seeing it. You're looking at probably $50 to ship that package. Just hang on and be patient, one will pop up that will be worth it and certain.

according to USPS ground to my zip code, it's $18.75. that's actually why I was so interested, the shipping seemed comparitively cheap considering it's shipping 50 lbs.

p.s. not taking it anyway, the pinkness is too weird for me to trust.

That's uninsured and not counting the 'handling' fee that will be charged... either way, unless you want the n64 stuff, you're risking wasting cash on a crappy obsolete monitor.

Adam, Amiga 1080 for $75 shipped... I don't know anything about the seller, but that's not so bad.

    EDIT:

I'm stupid and forgot the url.

I'm not so sure about that one... my C1084 monitor displays some of the most delicious and crisp RGB I've ever seen. Even if only 13 inches, it's probably the best monitor in my house. To each their own.

I've got a 1084 (actually 1084S) and i'm watching TV on it right now through the VCR (it's next to my PC). It has a great picture and multiple inputs for anything.

My advice though...I held out for the 1084S with the "stereo speakers" and
paid extra for it too. Well, the speakers in it sound like crap,
I don't even have them hooked up. I'm just using a set of powered PC speakers and get better sound that way.

So... then what's the point of holding out for the 1084s?

His advice is not to bother holding out for the 1084s, because he did and it wasn't worth it.

How big are the 1080 and 1084 anyway? I can't seem to find that info.
