Well you need to specify a system, or we could go on forever.

Wow, didn't realize that there would be that many (lets make it NTSC only canada and US, no Jap games that weren't realesed here or in pal format)
Systems how about: Dreamcast,SNES,NES,N64,Genesis to start with!

I honestly have little idea how many that would be in the older days, but now that GameCube support seems all but nonexistent in Australia and Europe as a whole, perhaps we'll see most all games released for that system not getting the PAL makeover (or being released in such small quanities as to ensure each game would be rare).

While technically it'll run perfectly on a PAL machine, ALF on the SMS was never released in Europe. Which is quite odd seing as the Germans love ALF so much that the crappy made for TV movie "project ALF" was actually released in theatres there.

The Atari 7800 version of Robotron was never released in PAL format. Also, all the games released for the Atari 5200 were never released in PAL format because the only PAL 5200s exist as prototypes.

It would certainly be a big list - the Genesis alone had lots of games that never saw Pal versions... err American Gladiators for one.

Except if you live in europe, in wich case you are all to aware of the many, many, many games that never saw a PAL release. Like most of Square's snes and psx games. Basically I dont buy a new consol unless it can play imports (chip, boot cd's, adapters, whatever).

1/4 of the us games are/were not released here in europe, nough said

@Ed Oscuro: wtf??? did i understand you right? you're saying not many gc games get a pal version? total bullshit, really, support here in germany is great and the uk gc sales have risen by 400% last week due to the price reduction, we do get a lot more games nowadays than we did back in the snes time. In fact, the PS2 is the import problem cause there are sooooo many games for it, a lot are not released here

There's around 200 Genesis games that didn't get released for PAL Megadrives. If anyone's desperate to know what they were, I'll compare my lists tonight and post them.

Can you give any more details about this (or pictures?)? If it's an 'official import' it should probably be mentioned in the Megadrive list.

    Default hmm

Sore point!! There are far too many retro games that got US releases and not PAL ones... those that spring immediately to mind are:

    Genesis: Chase H.Q. , Shadowrun, Vectorman 2
Sega CD : All the Working Designs games , Monkey Island
    Saturn: Astal

I have had a couple of PAL copies of the original Vectorman though ... it's not all that rare!

The situation with the Gamecube is slightly uncertain at the moment .. it looks like we won't be getting Animal Crossing in Europe (although I have heard it's getting an Australia release!?!?)

I guess it will depend largely on how successful the price drop is at boosting Nintendo's market share.

    2600, no PAL:
    Steeple Chase
    Stellar Track
    Home Run (not sure)
    Submarine Commander
    Swordquest: Fireworld
    Atari Video Cube
    Swordquest: Waterworld
    Krull (no German release)
    Crazy Climber
    Quadrun
    Rubic's Cube
    Taz
    Gremlins
    Crackpots
    Cosmic Commuter
    Smurfs saves the Day/Berenstein Bears
    Q-Bert Qubes
    Strawberry Shortcake
    Halloween
    Texas Chainsaw Massacre
& many more, this is just from the top of my head

    5200 (not released in Europe)

    7800, no PAL:
    Asteroids (built into machine)
    Robotron 2084
    Touchdown Football
    Winter Games (not sure)
    Rampage
    Water Ski
    Tank Command

also, Nintendo never cared about Europe, many, many titles not released as PAL versions, be it on NES, SNES, N64 or GC.

The Game Cube is totally dead in the UK, withdrawn from important high street shops like Currys, Dixons, PC World, and most importantly, Argos the main high street and catalogue seller, didn't include the Game Cube in their Winter/Christmas catalogue. (But they include PSone, and that's saying something). That is the biggest blow for Nintendo.

That's a bit harsh... it's hardly 'totally dead'. Argos have actually started to sell the Cube again after sales picked up generally of the Cube after the recent price cut. I can't vouch for Currys & PC world but my local Dixons still sells a small amount of Cube stuff. The main GC games that don't get PAL releases are the sports games - I had to import Home Run King & NFL Blitz as they'll never see the light of day over here.

I'm sorry, do you actually live in this country?

What do you have to gain by trying to spread false info like that?

For NES, see my site http://nesfountain.silius.net and Europe section. There's a list there (although not updated, some games (Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt, RoadBlasters) in it were released here, but I will change that another time, aren't that many).
