    Default Saturn Controller Port Broken

I was finally able to get a Saturn A/V cable from a friend & was so happy to give it a try... I turned it on to find out that I could not use my controller d-pad. I thought it was my controller first, but I plugged it in to slot 2 and turned the saturn on with no game. I was able to move around and press buttons in the menu screen.

My question is: Is it possible to fix a Saturn controller port? Has anyone ever done this? I can't use my d-pad but can use my buttons when I am in Controller port one, but I can when I am in port 2...

Some version saturns have a separate board that the controller ports are attached to. A "controller block" so to speak. Some versions have the ports right on the mainboard. You'd have to go in to check and know for sure.

Could be a short on the mainboard, or a blown something. If the ports are on a separate 'block', I may have a working replacment 'block' I'd let go reasonably cheap plus ship. I have some 'parts" Saturns.

I checked and it is on the motherboard. It almost looks like someone spilt some liquid on the saturn. I took a q-tip and ran it over parts of the motherboard and a bright yellow/sticky substance (looks like some sort of juice) came off.

Nothing looked like it was blown though.

    A good cleaning maybe?

I've seen stuff spilled in saturns too. It must be the design, lends itself to pooling inside.
