Just seen a teaser trailer for these on Spike...coming up on December 4th. Great ads.....Anyone know anything else about them?

I've been watching that Joe Shmoe show and saw the ads myself. I agree that the ads are pretty amusing. I saw a Ms. Pacman and a Galaga one. No clue about the show itself though.

Frankly, I'm a bit worried about it. I pretty much never agree with award shows. But we'll see how this one is.

Yeah, I'm sure there will be disagreements about some of the awards but isn't that the same with music, television and movie awards as well.

I'm actually kind of happy to see this kind of show on a regular television channel.

Ok, just voted, and beyond the fact that with the idiotic public voting, GTA VC will win everything, they claimed that in November they'll put up a chronological history of video games.....hmm......

I'd expect an asstacular hyped up bunch of crap with lousy self-absorbed hosts that only care about who paid to have theif games covered.

that entire list is complete bullshit. They didnt have Zelda in the best animated category and they didnt have Metroid Fusion in the most addictive handheld.

I voted for a few, but since almost every vote was placed in the OTHER category I just gave up. Fuck SpikeTV.

Their default choices suck for the most part, and it really shows who spotted them cash....I mean "True Crime: Streets of LA" was on there several times, yet it has yet to be released. How am I supposed to vote on that? I know my games are longshots and don't stand a chance in hell of winning, but I like them, and that's all that matters, I could care less if some soft-porn testosterone channel agrees with me or not.

Yes, GTA will clean up, but to me that isnt a problem, considering the sheer amount of copies sold...it's a popular game. If it had been ignored, that wouldve been a true crime (pun intended, heh).

What I do have problems with is True Crimes multiple nominations. It shouldve been in the "Most Anticipated" category, if it had to be listed at all.


I was also surprised that I had to write in Zelda for a category...i believe it was best animation. WTF kinda oversight was that?!?!?

All I have to say is thank Jeebus for write in votes!

Oh, one more thing I was actually shocked that Viewtiful Joe was a default nomination!

The problem I have with public-voted awards is that people vote for their favorite game without paying any attention to what the category is. They simply vote for the game they like best on the list.

The category could be "best puzzle game" and if Vice City was on the list, the endless masses would vote for it.

People simply do not vote on the basis of the topic at hand. They vote only for their favorite game on the list. It's a sham.

That's why I actually prefer awards that are based on a panel of actual judges who are in the industry. You won't find any of that nonsense.

Hmm, no i wouldnt take it that far, but c'mon, every single category had GTA Vice City PC and mostly a group of very sub-par games with a few exceptions here and there. it was very tame and very mainstream

Only a couple that I really could vote on since I don't give jack shit about popular music in video games, and haven't played GTA3 (as has been mentioned before).

That said, I thought the appearance of CV: AoS in the handhelds category was awesome. I voted for that one. Beats Metroid Fusion hands-down.
