Im new, be kind...or not. whatever

Im new here... im the foremost authority on all things video games in my area, but when I see some of the game rooms on this site, I feel like a poser. Dont get me wrong, my room is completely video games, but my collection is lacking due to a minimal amount of funding. I only have 17 systems (including handhelds), and only about 250 games. I have beaten over 600 games however! Am i the only person on this site that is like this, or are all of you guys rich( or at least have jobs), and can spend a lot on your collections. I dont like the idea of me being a poser among the hardcore just because my dad wont let me work.

Sounds like you value playing time over collecting, and I can certainly sympathize with that. So no, you're not the only person here who isn't in the "elite" category. But hey, if you're hardcore about playing, I predict you'll fit in just fine! It really boils down to, whether collecting or playing, whether or not you enjoy it.

And enjoy not having to work just yet - I miss those days. If you haven't already, learn about us and tell us more about yourself in this thread.

When you walk through a flea market or swap meet or pawn shop and buy everything that is a good deal, then you're on your way.

When you'll spend as much as it takes to get the last couple of games for a system, Congratulations YOU"RE NO LONGER A POSER. Even if this means sneaking out of the house at 2:00 AM to work, stocking shelves at Wal-Mart to pay for these games.

Are you kidding? That's a great start! What matters most is that you like games and can talk games, and that is what this site is about. It's not how much you have, what you have, but our love for games in general that brought this site together.

Now, on the other hand, if you wear the Hot Topic gaming shirts and have never touched a controller in your life, then you might be a poser

Nah, you're not a poser. Besides, most collections are built little by little, so don't feel bad if you don't have the ultimate room of doom just yet. Of course, what do I know? I consider myself to be a gamer, not a collector. Achika's right: if you're passionate about videogames, you're definitely not a poser, regardless of whether you're a gamer or a collector, or both.

And I agree with PDF: Enjoy the work-free life while it lasts.

Defintely not a bad start. I've been gaing since i was a kid and I've NEVER beat 600 games...and I'm 26. Although...maybe you need some exercise?

Anyway, welcome! Don't feel bad about the collections...it comes with time...I've been collecting since 95 and I have about 600...and I feel inferior around here a LOT!

Well, when I started here I had a Dreamcast and XBox. Now I have 19 systems and a Neo arcade setup. I think you're doing well.

And be sure to check out our buy/sell forum, every now and again you can hook up a trade with someone and get both parties happy.

I'm not going to vote. I think you're putting too much thought into all of this.

Sounds to me like we have similar sized collections, and I certainly don't consider myself a poser. Like Achika said, it's all about your love of games, not how much you have. Not everyone can afford to have a fully stocked room of doom, after all.

So just stop worrying, and enjoy!

Seriously, 250 games isn't bad. That's about all I have.
I am currently striving for 54 more games, and then I will have every game that I want. I don't think it makes me a poser from having a small collection of 300 games. I think it makes me a dedicated gamer who knows what he likes and can afford
