Anyone pick this up? Apparently it's out though it may be difficult to track down. Surprised me as Gamestop had told me Jan. (seems the game is out now bundled with a headset, and out seperately in Jan.).

It got good reviews, so I really want to try it out, but it might be a tough sell at my house :). If I get ahold of it, I'll let you know how it turns out; in the meantime, I'd also be interested to hear what anyone has to say about this game.
I want this game rather badly, but alas, cash is not readily available at this moment.

Holy crap. It's been a while.
Buying it Friday, and the game will only be played in the sanctity of my home where no one can see/hear me.
I did get to check it out, and it seems cool, with the exception of the horrid cover tunes. Especially the Michael Jackson song. :shudder:
The official release date is November 11
It's out and seems to be available in larger quantities then the DDR releases. The Best Buy I was just in had 2 dozen.
Okay update... Picked it up today at GameCrazy (inside Hollywood Video, only place around here to have it). INCREDIBLE fun. Looking at the song list I wasn't too thrilled, but once they start up you really appreciate the choices, as the songs are just damn fun to sing along to. I was pretty cautious about my ability to pass even the first level, but on Medium difficulty and picking songs I had some affinity for I easily made it to the last stage. Now getting a Platinum on "Wind Beneath My Wings" (*ugh*) might be another story. Anyways, I highly recommend it and it's gonna take some time away from DDR MAX 2 for awhile.
If they would have a custom music feature to put your own music in the game, I would have boughten it right away but since they didn't do it that way, I decided to go with Music Mixer instead.
That looks like a lot of fun, but I find the tracklisting to be pretty weak. It'll be interesting to see what kind of expansion discs they come out with (hits of the 80's maybe?) By that time, I might actually own a PS2.
I did too. Alot. But somehow it works, I can't explain it. I personally enjoy about 3 or 4 of the songs in the game on their own, but the majority are for some reason just fun to sing in the context of the game. But yeah, I'm really looking forward to the expansions as well.Originally Posted by Keir to the nth power
Well, I am a little slow and just picked up the game. I admit, I like it The worst part? I score well on songs that I have no business scoring well on or even knowing
I haven't picked it up yet, but I want to so much!!!!
Only thing, though: No Bohemian Rhapsody??? It can't be karaoke without Bohemian Rhapsody!
Or Men Without Hat's Safety Dance. That should be the first easiest level with it's monotone harmonies and dummy lyrics. It's my choice out on the town.

I know the feeling. I can nail Sixpence None The Richer's "Kiss Me" like nobody's business.Originally Posted by Felixthegamer

But anyway, Bohemian Rhapsody would be prohibitively hard, I promise. I am a trained vocalist, and doing exact pitch matching on that song by yourself is a damn nightmare. It might be different if there was, like, a four player mode, and all four of you did mad practicing for different parts. But alone? Nuh-uh.
Hmm, I'm one of these people who nail Bohemian Rhapsody alone in karaoke! (ok, granted, the backup vocals are included on the track) I just love it. That, and Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer.
it's fun but i sat there played about 15 songs and you can just go blah blah blah and still score good, as long as your volume i the same. IT's fun, but it's not the original artist your singing along too. and it's alot better when you know it and turn their singing voice off or down so it's just you.
It's worth it.
My life and perception has changed, but my principals are the same.
