No adapters are required, either. Just connect the Guncon passthrough to the Y/Video cable (the green one, usually.) It'll work like normal. I assume that a composite compatible synch signal is carried on this wire.

Will it work on an HDTV though? I have yet to find a light gun that will.
That's a good question. Projection and LCD/Plasma would be a definite no, but CRT seems possible. I guess it depends on the way the TV does the decoding and scanning.Originally Posted by Gamereviewgod
AWESOME info. I'm throwing that tidbit into my next peripherals column for PSE2 and crediting you for it.Originally Posted by davidbrit2

Go for it. I'm surprised that's gone unnoticed for so long. There's nothing about it on Namco's site, and I didn't see anything significant when searching with Google. Oh well, as long as it works. :-)
Actually some light guns will work on a projection TV. I've gotten the XBOX and Dreamcast guns to work on my sister's TV. The issue with HDTVs is that most convert the signal and it's no longer in 480i which I believe the gun is loking for. My TV converts everything to 540p (which is a bit strange) so I'll eventually have to get a nice set for the bedroom to use w/ my beloved gun games.
Okay, that would explain the HDTV issue. And I guess the gun could work with a CRT based projection TV, assuming the picture is bright enough for the gun to read. You might still need to have all the lights turned off. But an LCD front projection definitely wouldn't work - I've tried it before just for the hell of it.Originally Posted by ddockery
Guncon 2 works just as well, and possibly better.
Time Crisis 3 is out, too, in case anybody else was waiting impatiently for that.
Guncon 2 does work on HDTV, but only certian ones. No Sony models are supported because they upconvert everything to 1080i and it messes with the gun. My Toshiba works great, I've been using this method (green plug) for a while since I didn't feel like paying another $25 for the Sony gun adapter shown on the back of the Time Crisis box. It works really well, the Namco games even recognize the progressive scan and make you do a 2 shot calibration instead of the usual 1.
Unfortunately, I can't get a Guncon 1, Phazer, or Stunner to work on my set. I don't know if a Zapper would work, but I'm going to pick one up. Has anyone gotten a gun besides Guncon 2 to work on anHDTV? Someday I'll get that HD compatible Madcatz Blaster for my Xbox though.
If anyones got one of the other guns to work, post your experiences.

The Zapper might work, but that's mostly educated speculation. As long as the TV doesn't do any upscan conversion that delays the image, it should.
