I would say the Street Fighter series is pretty flat. I can't even count the number of games they have made. I lost interest after the SNES games.

Most any Franchise Sports series, be it Madden, NCAA...whatever 2KX etc...You want to talk about the same thing every year...sheeezz...OMG a new roster!
Final Fantasy is overrated. Doesn't mean it sucks though, but serious FF fans tend to exhibit the same pathological denials that Star Wars nerds display, a flat out lust and refusal to admit there is anything wrong with the series. FFVII has to be the most overrated game in history, whats so special? I played this somewhat, and I got bored by all the FMV...I guess I'm just more of an action guy, I want to play games not watch them play with themselves.
I don't get all the FFVII hate really, it's one of my favorite games. Yes, I'm a square fanboy but I'll readily admit when a FF game sucks...
...like Final Fantasy VIII. I was so psyched off of VII and when VIII came around I was so hyped up... just for this piece of total garbage that looked pretty. I don't understand how anyone could like the battle system. Broken and crappy, it was better suited for a SaGa game where the experimentation never ends...
my vote for overrated? Resident Evil and Tomb Raider both win my vote. For me, both lost something once they added the "two" to the end of their respective titles.
Actually, TR1 never really wowed me either...

Holy crap. It's been a while.
I have to say Final Fantasy and Resident Evil equally.
I do however want to know what grounds this statement was based on:
How on earth can you call Need for Speed: Underground a GTA knockoff? x_xOriginally Posted by sabre2922
Final Fantasy VII and VIII no question Any FF game after VI is pretty much overhyped (excluding the Tactics games).
I'd also vote for the whole RE series, the Tomb Raider games (excluding Tomb Raider 1 which was quite innovative when first release for PC on DOS!), and the PSX Mega Man games.

Yet another one for Final Fantasy.
It's good to know that I'm not the only one who thinks so.
I know I'm in the vast minority here, but of the FF series, the only one I gave half a rats ass about was 8, 9 I finished out of my enjoyment of 8 and 10 I just gave up on halfway through. But then again, I don't like Final Fantasy games. However, slap a Wizards of the Coast sticker on it and I'll buy any chunk of steamping crap.

Either that or you tried it and rather pathetically sucked.

Overrated in my eyes? OK...
All FF games that have appeared on the Playstation and later consoles. Style over substance - in my opinion.
Castlevania series - Grooved out on 1 and 2, but do we really need Castlevania: Sorrow of the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil Part 5? How many frigging lives does Drac have?
DDR - Because I really, really, really suck at it. I think it's an envy thing, really.
Still Around...Still Gamin'...
Re: DDR
I tried it - a few times, actually. I also did pretty well. And I hated it. Some people just have different tastes. In my book, it's insanely overrated. If you dig it, then go nuts.
Other overrated stuff:
Final Fantasy
Anything 3D featuring Mario
Metroid (silence, all of you :P)
Tekken
Gun shooting games (Time Crisis, etc)
Gameboy
Viewtiful Joe (Unfortunately, after finally putting some time into it, I was very disappointed)
Halflife
Quake III...
Actually, I'd better stop now, or I'll come off sounding like an everything hater
Oh, and both Sonic and Mega Man were mentioned in here - two of the best franchises ever in my view. But again, to each their own. (See DDR fans, you can't go calling me a hyprocrite!)

That's a weak argument. That's like calling Mario Sunshine a Final Fantasy ripoff because Final Fantasy has lineage with Zelda, which is also made by Nintendo.Originally Posted by CueWarrior

True Crime is a GTA knockoff.
Castlevania sorta, never liked any of it not on the nes.
any RE or tomb raider.
FF i really have no opinion on other than i perfer thee ole nes/snes days.
My life and perception has changed, but my principals are the same.
I agree that Dance Dance Revolution is exceedingly stupid, too. I forgot about that one. Blackjax is 100% right in everything he said.
No I haven't tried it, don't want to either. I don't think stepping on four arrows while shitty dance music plays is all that appealing. What is funny about the game though is that when everyone crowds around the game on the boardwalk down the shore, my friend and my brother will get on it, put some money in like they're serious, and then as soon as the game starts they just do these weird dances, not paying attention to the game or anything. My friend would do floorpunches and karate kicks and stuff like that. Funny to watch the reactions on people's faces. I wish we videotaped some of them.

I would have to say that some of the CV games out there are crap, but the whole series? I think Iga's got an idea, god knows if it's the right one (until I play this newest one). I do miss the platforming...disappeared when SotN showed up.
I'm somewhat surprised that nobody has made mention of the Mortal Kombat series, though.
That's probably because Mortal Kombat is pretty frickin' sweet. Well, at least the first two, and the most recent game are.I'm somewhat surprised that nobody has made mention of the Mortal Kombat series, though.

Uh, no, the most recent MK games have also been intensely terrible.
I'm not a fan of Soul Calibur either, but where I come from...people don't put up with the new MK. Opinions...sticky little things.
What about the GBA game? Hope they don't make a lot more like that one if what I hear about it is true.
