Default Old Handheld Mattel Electronics Games (Triangle Scew help)

Ok, this may be off topic, but you know those screws that are in all of the old Mattel Electronics games? (IE football, basketball, hockey etc...) Well I recently got an electroic Dungeons and Dragons that Mattel made and the speaker is shot. I can hear that the game works, but just barely. I wanted to replace the speaker but it uses those #*&ki%#g triangle screws. Radio Shack was no help, or Ace Hardware. Does anyone know where I could find a screwdriver with that bit? It would have to be long and thin as there are some that are deeply embeded in the plastic housing. I really want to keep this in pristine condition as I got it with all the parts, box, intructions etc... If anybody knows who sells these things, pleae let me know. MODS, feel free to move this to whereever I should have posted it to. Thanks all. Cheers.

GameCube controllers have trianlge screws in them, and I used a tiny straight bladed screwdriver to open one of those up. You know, the really tiny ones you use to fix glasses and such.

I don't know if the screws are the same, but that worked for me.

You mean the screws are even smaller than those tiny screwdrivers? Those things are like 1/16th of an inch wide!

    Damn, that's a small screw...

A jewelers flathead screwdriver 1/32 will work. But you could just buy a tri-wing off of ebay for a couple of bucks.

the toolkit Sylent has is both inexpensive and great. You can pretty much open up anything with it. I recommend it highly.

The triangular Mattel screws in old hardware (and some Intellivision carts) are NOT Tri Wing. That's not to mean a tri wing bit may not work. What the poster is referring to are literally "a triangle" on the head of the screw.

They are a pain in the ass. If a Tri wing does not work (Gameboy, NGC controllers) I would take it to a good jeweller and see what they can tell you, maybe they know the name of what you need. If you find out...share with us!

Hey Sylent, I may have to get one of those. I may have to take it to a jeweler as I have taken it to a few hardware stores but to no avail. Arrrgghhhhh...... If I find out I will definately let everyone know. Cheers.

i pretty much had to make my own stuff with a grinder.

but someone mentioned before of heating a plastic pen tip and pushing into the screw and letting it cool. that might work, got me.
My life and perception has changed, but my principals are the same.
