Default Favorite Arcade Game Played at a Department Store

This topic is geared toward the early to late 80's:

Not everyone could get access to an arcade where all your favorite games. I know for me my family didn't get to the local mall that often, so for a time I got my arcade swerve on by playing games in department stores. We frequented K-Mart (it was only a few blocks away and Wal-Mart wasn't in town yet) and at that time all of the games were toward the front doors, right next to the little sandwich stand. There were __ games: Jr. Pac Man, Pengo, Galaga, Timber, and I think a Donkey Kong. The game I played the most was Timber. A unique little title: control a lumberjack and chop down trees while avoiding bee hives being tossed by a bear. I loved it for its simplicity and after a while could get over 100,000 points.

What did you all play and enjoy at a local department store (when many still HAD games)?

One comes to mind. in the early 90's supermarkets had started to go 24 hours in my town. There was one of these with a new game called "Street Fighter II" Let it be known right now that me and my best friends were "and are" nerds. We were bad into SFII and on weekends we would go up to this one 24 hour supermarket, ask the clerk for a roll of quarters and play until the sun came up. It got to the point where we all were masters of the game. I could beat anyone with Blanka, Wayne could beat anyone with Zangief (he could pull off a spinning powerdrive from half a screen away, all i ever heard when someone played him was "ripoff!! Cheater!!) And tom and Jeremy were both excellent with ken and ryu. Cool thing was if we got hungry we would just buy something in the store behind us. Fun memories.

Simple, Rush N' Attack. It was in the PX when I lived in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Isn't it fitting for Rush N' Attack to be in the commissary of a US Army base during a time when the US's main adversary was the Russians? All the kids thought we were really fighting the Communists by playing that game lol! We easily put about $6 worth of quarters in that machine daily.

This is still one of my fav arcade games!

    Default Sears had games

Back in the day, right next to the portrait studio of a local Sears store, there used to be a small arcade with around 10 games. I remember playing Congo Bongo & Star Wars there. I believe they had a couple of pinball machines as well. Fond memories indeed

    Default Robinsons

I took it one step further actually.

The Robinson's in the mall near me had stand alone hand helds, and me and my buddies (who didn't have jobs so we couldn't afford even a quarter for a game) played those until we'd get kicked out. Pac-Man and Q-bert were the best of those. Those were the days...
