    Default problem wit nes power

    help
    my nes doesnt work anymore
i plug in the ac adaptor but the power doesnt work. Sometimes the red light goes on for 1 sec and goes off. Its not the ac adaptor cuz it still gets hot when u plug it in.

    Default Nope

No, odds are your adapter is dead. It can still produce heat, even if it isn't supplying the right amount of power, or high enough quality power to boot the NES. Go grab a new one, or an adapter for a Genesis/Megadrive (anything 9-12VDC and under 1.5A will probably do) and plug that in .. if it works, get yourself a new adapter (using a nonstandard one might cause problems down the road.) Or just do that from the start, they don't cost much. They're $1 at your local used game shop or on ebay.

They both output the same power level. So either should be just fine.

No you can't use a Super NES adaptor on an NES and vice versa. They plug in differently.

Does it go on then off and then completly shut down or keep blinking on and off with the blue screen when the power button is pressed?? If it is the blue screen, then were looking at a bad connector.

So I take it we're talking a PAL system then.

    Default You..

You ought to be able to use the SNES adapter permanently. I just would not recommend using one that has different power output specifications for an extended period .. though I've heard that the 12V output by the Genesis AC adapter is fine for a NES despite that it expects 9V. The voltage regulators seem to be able to handle it.

    The Genesis adapters output 9V (MK-1602) or 10V (MK-2103).
