Default PowerJoy II: saint or sinner?

I asked about this product over at ClassicGaming.com last year, but it just popped up on QVC again tonight (for Christmas) so I wanted to ask the opinion of the Digital Press members. The item in question is called the PowerJoy II:

    http://www.qvc.com/asp/frameset.asp?...dll?item=E2458

The company's web site is www.powerjoy.com.

The opinion of one of the members over at ClassicGaming was that this is a pirate Famicom/NES. Certainly, some of the 94 games that come with the unit look a bit suspect (Macross??) as they are from several different companies (a full list is available on a link on the product page above). I e-mailed QVC about this last year, and their response was along the lines that it was legitimate.

So, what do you guys think about this thing? I've never owned an NES, so this would seem like a way to get one plus a lot of games. Any opinions about it?

can you really question what QVC describes as a
    An undisputed home entertainment champ
    ?

i cant imagine that these things are 100% legit, probably more like something the big companies cant be bothered filing suit over. it is a "megajoy" style famiclone, even seems to have a cart slot which is nice if you dont own a famicom or convertor. it seems like every month a new variation surfaces, always trying to look like the latest system controller. these things arent worth much more that 10-15 bucks, i've got 8 different ones lying around. the pro is that yes you can get a good handful of games cheaply the con is that it never feels right in terms of control, they always throw in a lot of useless buttons. you might also find that many of the promised games are just level starts of the basic 24 games.

if theres a flea market near you look there for a better price.
