Default Arcade games which never came home

Here's an old topic that should be revived here on the new boards...

Which arcade game would you have liked to see on a home version, but never saw the light of day? Mine would have to be Zoo Keeper, Colecovision. Hell, I'd bet the Atari 2600 could have had a decent version of the game as well. Probably faster gameplay with sacrificed graphics-a common occurrence between the two. So, what's yours?

I always wanted to see a Vectrex programmer put together a Tailgunner game. I loved the pseudo-3D look of the vector game and thought it would be doable on the Vectrex.

Zookeeper is another good one, as was Mad Planets.

I always wanted to see a home version of Tempest using the driving controller. That would've been fun!

Yes! Zookeeper! I still dream of a home version. Maybe an unreleased 2600 proto or even a homebrew could do it..

    Others are

Moon Cresta. Yes I know it's on Nichibitsu arcade classics for psx. But that's too modern and anyway the gameplay is waay off!

Taito Space Invaders Part 2. Yes we have lots of 'Space Invaders' for home consoles, but rarely do they really match up to the arcade and all the little tricks you could do. Taito Space Invaders Part 2 (and it's lesser cousin Midway's Space Invaders Deluxe), is worse off and never did make it home in any satisfactory form. :/

My one is a bit newer, but I would love to have the Anniversary Star Wars game that Sega made a few years back. I swear, the amount of money I spent on that I probably could've bought one.

I also have a newer one, the X-Men arcade game. I have no idea as to why that nevere came home. I would also like a decent port of Captain America and the Avengers.

Sorry to disagree with you Revolt, but Tailgunner was *never* released on the Vectrex. If it was, point me to a website saying it was or at least tell me the company that released it. I think you've got the game mixed up with something else there...

I know one of the Vectrex homebrew programmers (Tumbler or Dondzilla perhaps?) were working on a version years ago, but nothing ever surfaced.

Super Pac-Man, which, I know, has been found as a Prototype for the 5200, but I always loved this game back in the day and I think it's a shame it never was released to the general public (and considering how good the 5200 version is, it a damn shame that sucker never came out.)

I would have liked SnapJack to have gotten ported to the Colecovision, if some programer could just figure out how to get smooth scrolling on the coleco, it would of been a great port.

STUNN Runner is a game i wish could have made it to the 32x or at the very least the Jaguar.

EDIT: hmm, I got to doing a search for a prototype or something and found that S.T.U.N.N. Runner was released for the Lynx. I was not aware of this and for the first time I actually feel like searching for a Lynx now.

    Default Zookeeper+2600=fun!

I'm a Zookeeper fan too, I've been holding on to the belief that there's a 2600 proto out there somewhere ever since it was announced in Atari Age (the magazine I mean - I think it was in the issue with Battlezone on the cover, the final issue) so many years ago.

Raedon: yep. Stun Runner for the Lynx. It surprised me too that day I walked into Software Etc. and saw it there amongst the Lynx boxes. Needless to say I picked it up and it was ok. I mean it isn't overwhelming or anything but it was pretty impressive that they'd try and port that to a handheld unit and more or less suceeded. Same goes for Ninja Gaiden.

    Snap Jack.

    Tempest!

    Marvin's Maze.

    Bagman.

    Guzzler.

    Star Fire.

    Space Odyssey.

    Pleiades.

    Rally-X.

    Spectar!

Killer Comet (I'd probably be the only one who buys it...).

As for smooth scrolling on a ColecoVision; it can be done. Nova Blast, B.C's Quest For Tires, Pitstop, Matt Patrol (3 levels!), and others.

Baawwww...! I want my Dragon Avatar back!

An arcade port of Zoo Keeper for Colecovision would have been great, even cooler if these was a NES port of it!

You mean the Final Fight clone with the Punisher and Nick Fury? Capcom brought it home to the Genesis, pretty decent conversion too.

Default Are We Being Selective Here?

It seems many of the games you guys are mentioning HAVE come out for home systems but for more recent systems...Tempest, for instance, is part of Tempest 2000 for Jaguar as well as the Atari arcade compilations. And Rally-X and Super Pac-Man are also available in various compilations. For me, I would've liked to see Lunar Lander and perhaps Crazy Climber for a next gen system (besides which the 2600 version is way too expensive as a "rare" item).
