It looks great to me too. It sort of looks like a Megaman game.
D
Yes, but with something Megaman never had (but probably was inspired by and Capcom would've died for, in fact): The Tetsuan Atom license!
Which reminds me...I'm pretty sure Astro Boy = Tetsuan Atom, correct?
It looks like it has the same gameplay theme as the super famicom game but I couldn't get past the dark tunnel part in the super famicom game so I can't really tell you what that theme is. x_x
Sorry Ryan, but your girlfriend is in another school.
Video games & manga (my manga scanlation group that scanlates video game manga) http://www.north101.net/Chara/vgm/index.html
This is going to be awesome! I started reading the manga not long ago and I'm planning on picking up some of the anime series that Manga Ent. has put out. As much as I like Mega Man, I think Astro Boy is at least twice as cool. And I hadn't heard of (but should have assumed) a Super Famicom Astro Boy...looks like I'll be digging for ROMs soon....
Also, this marks the 2nd (I think) time a Treasure game was published by Sega, the first being Guardian Heroes. If that's any indication, this should be an instant-classic! (If I'm wrong feel free to correct me).
I don't know much of anything about Astro Boy (only a small segment in an issue of NewType USA) but the game sure LOOKS damn good. I'd snatch that up.
...it may never make it over here, huh?
Oh my that is cool. I have several volumes of Astro Boy manga and it is quality stuff, without a doubt.
This and the PS2 game are gonna kick ass just by license alone. I don't care if they play like E.T., I want 'em. There's a big budget CG Astro Boy movie in the works at Sony Pictures, possibly for a 2004 release.
You'll probably want to pass on the Super NES Astro Boy game... I played it and I wasn't the least bit impressed. However, the Game Boy Advance version of Astro Boy looks exceptional, like Silhouette Mirage with more action and absolutely none of that loathsome color switching.
By the way, Astro Boy is indeed the same character as Tetsuwan Atom. The only question that remains is this... why is Leo the Lion (aka Kimba the White Lion) featured in the game? I thought the characters existed in two entirely different universes.

Didn't Sega publish Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Headdy, and most of Treasure's other Genesis/Mega Drive titles?Originally Posted by DrJustinRamone
Anyway, this is impressive. Part of me wishes that Treasure would develop original games instead of working with licenses, but when it comes to Astro Boy, I'm not going to complain.
And I'm not sure if this is a cameo by Leo from Jungle Emperor, or just a standard lion. Tezuka was fond of reusing characters in his works.

Isnt there going to be an Astro boy cartoon on WB soon, or is that something else?
I like monkeys...and poop...and monkeys that poop...and play video games
Yeah. There's a new series out in Japan, big budget for televised anime, and it'll be on the WB in early 2004. I caught a few episodes my last visit, the stories rock and the animation is great.Originally Posted by GamecubeFreek
I didn't like this game so much. Of course, I was playing on some goofy LCD screen and not the GBA screen (which I usually play on) but it just seemed slightly monotonous to me, and I love platformers, so this should be right up my alley.
I might play it again and eat my words, but I waited in an extremely short line to play it and didn't play it that long.
