For a good view of prototype systems you really need to head to one of the major gaming events this year.

CGE is THE BEST one I can think of and you'll see almost every piece of prototype hardware currently in collectors hands.

There will also be a few at this years East Coast Gaming Expo Feb 14th and 15th in Philly PA. Including an Atari 2000 and Atari 2700 Atari System X and a couple of M2 development untis.

If you haven't already reserved your tickets do so asap.

OT, but that just stuck in my head... *fade to dream sequence*
    Coming 2004...
You thought it was a myth...
    Just an urban legend...
    It was never thought possible...
Until one system turned horribly wrong!
    ATARI X (echo)
    Coming Summer 2004.
    Egbert, I miss you...

On a related note to this topic- I was reading The Ultimate History of Video Games today, and it said that Al Alcorn produced a console named "Cosmos" and that only prototypes were made.
Does anyone have any info on this at all?

Leonard Herman discusses the Atari Cosmos in Phoenix as well. It was a semi-holographic system, which in its working forms only used holograms as a backdrop behind more conventional 2D graphics. From what I've read, the last time it made an appearance at one of the trade shows was in 1979-80, after which Atari wisely moved on to more practical ideas like the 5200.

EDIT: w00t! I got a strawberry! Only took me months...

I have an Odyssey 3 prototype console as well as the prototype voice unit for it. I think you can do a search and find my old threads on it here as well as at Atariage.

Lee Harvey Oswald was not a male model... You're god damn right he wasn't, but those two lookers who capped Kennedy from the grassy knoll sure as shit were.-

The Neptune might be the combo unit you speak of.

Wow, I'm surprised the Head of DP industries didn't chew off your nuts for that, er fru*t (shh, don't say the F-word!). He has this habit of going WAY out of his way, like leaving vacations and stuff just to do that to forum-goers. Sometimes he types long, droning, incoherent letters that further waste his time and the time of others just to prove points that nobody really ever figures out nor cares to try. He oughta make it a sticky if it means so much to him.

Nothing better to do, I guess.
