Great review! I'm glad there are a couple of screen shots....looks like a pretty cool game
scooterb: "I once shot a man in Catan, just to watch him die."
Devil World is indeed a neat game. I have it for NES (European cart).
It's also a common find on these pirate multi-carts.
Maybe this is an unwarranted revisit of the Game Review threads, but...what's going on in that first paragraph? I see what its purpose is, but you could've started out with something typing the game in question directly to Pac-Man. Still, a worthy introduction and you certainly won't lose anybody :)
Anyhow, interesting! I wonder why Konami's old (1987) coin-op Gauntlet ripoff, er excuse me -- game has the same title?

Ed, I'll admit it's a bit rambling. I had a few reasons for having it there though. First, I like to provide a little context for an individual game within gaming as a whole. Not everyone reading that may be aware of the Pac-clone phenomenon. I also thought maybe it would help draw the reader in a bit; like "this is nice, but what does it have to do with Devil World?" Lastly, I figure anyone reading a review of a 19 year old game that was never released in America is probably interested in actually doing some READING.
Thanks for the comments though. I actually paid a lot of attention to the critiques in the review contest (for everyone's entries) and tried to avoid most of the complaints I saw there.

Hey, that works for me. You get the job done, which is more than 90% of the game reviews out there manage.
