Is this the same cart that was available in the Nintendo Super Power Club catalog back in 1995-6? I remember it was around $30 back then....I should have bought one!!

I remember staring at the Nintendo Power ad for the Star Fox comp cart and thinking how much of a rip off it was to sell them cart only for 59$ USD, since you could only play for five minutes.

An item that was a rip-off yet relatively difficult to obtain (read: very few people got it because a) they would rather get a full new game for that price, b) no one thinks about the 'collector's' implications at the time such a product is released otherwise it never really would become a true item, and c) it's a relative pain to get, mail-order items are absolutely notorious for achieving rarity this way) and unique (read: not dumped onto the market) and associated with a beloved franchise is an INSTANT COLLECTOR'S ITEM!

Not that I think there's anything wrong with that; I think unique goofy little items are pretty cool regardless of their value outside of that, but it is funny to observe in retrospect.

I see these all the time on the bay. I don't think I would pay over a hundred for one. Now this one has the box so that pushes it up in rarity. Now to find the starfox bomber jacket.
Cool people I have bought stuff from on this board: orrimarrko kyosuke75 dave2236 video_game_addict cloudstrife29661 NESCollector75

Of course I was interested, just didn't want to tip my hand too early. Sadly I only ended up with the bronze medal on this one. I was amazed how many high bids came in at the very end. I figured one or two at most. Oh well, better luck next time I guess. BTW, congrats Udisi and enjoy the game!

Yes, I too didn't want to tip my hand. I've been looking for a complete one for a while and was done waiting...I too was surprised. I bid $350 thinking, it probably would go in the $275-$300 range...oh, well atleast I got it. Now all I need is a NWC grey to complete the Nintendo competion cart collection
