Vanishing Traffic in GTA3??
The last two times I played GTA3 a strange thing happened.
All of the random traffic vanished!
It was early in the game on the frst Island. At first it seemed cool because it made things easier but it would freeze up when I tried to save.
It is possible that it was caused by the Rhino cheat code that I punched in about 20 times. I was trying to build a tank dam to stop my opponents in a street race.
Any one else ever have this happen??

I hope it's cheat code problems. Otherwise, you may be getting early signs of PS2 DVD Disc Read Errors.

I've seen that on the pc before. The pedestrians dissapeared too. I think if you go on road rage sprees everything turns to a ghost town after a while.
It does happen. Check IGn and other sites for glitches and bugs. It has happened to me on the PS2 version. I haven't spent much time on the X-box version, thanks to Vice City.
I read somewhere that cheating and then saving causes glitches with vice city, probably the same with gta3.

I highly doubt that this is the case. I've entered that code hundreds of times, and never ever had a single problem like that. I've made several tank dams too. No problems at all.Originally Posted by Dirty Tiger
If it's not happening regularly, then it's most likely just a bug with your PS2. GTA3 is one of the most disc-intensive games out for the system, and occasionally read errors happen. If traffic disappears or pedestrians disappear occasionally, well, it happens. If you are experiencing lots of building pop-up or the roads lose their texture and look shiny/wet all the time, it is a sign that your PS2 is having a hard time reading that disc and keeping up. Could be signs of laser failure, could be signs that your disc is scratched.
it might be the tank code though, since the tanks don't disappear and take the place of regular vehicles. I had something similar happen when I got the army really pissed off at me. I got rid of the wanted level but there was no civilian traffic.
In general, it's a good idea to never save after using cheat codes on GTA3 or VC. At the very least, you're not able to get 100% completion and strange ugs will sometimes come up.
