Reading through the posts is odd because somewhere a couple of pages ago the subject changes from "what I really want to own someday" to "I have this really neat XXX" and it's just awkward.

I didn't mean to start a dogpile on you, Papa. But it's with much love and affection.

I suppose it would have to be Earthbound CIB as that's my favorite console to collect for even though it's by far the most expensive of the Nintendo family. As for a Holy Grail of my collection I suppose either my loose Chrono Trigger or my complete Pocky & Rocky.

Not sure if this is appropriate to the thread, but my holy grail has long been Jurassic Park pinball. This is largely due to cost, partly due to lack of space for housing said item. Someday though, someday.

Videogame related, probably an Outrunners side-by-side arcade cabinet. Same deal as above except amplified, where the heck do I put this monstrosity??

Console related, definitely the pink Hello Kitty Dreamcast, CIB.

Default so glad, and then so sad

One of my long time Holy Grails of gaming has been the ASCii Stick Zero 3
This is one of the few optical joysticks produced for home consoles and the only optical joystick with rumble feature for Playstation.

After using the equivalent ASCii Stick FT on Dreamcast it has been unbearable to have had to go back to using clicky joysticks for PS and PS2.

I have searched for the ASCii Stick Zero 3 on eBay since around 2003 or 2004, it only came up for sale a couple times. The very first time was complete in box with the promo Street Fighter stickers and all original materials, however the metal base was corroded and the price was nearly $200 with shipping iirc.
I did not see another one listed for some years. In the interim I also posted want ads on a number of forums.

A couple years ago a seller (who currently has the same unsold stick at the same price on eBay) posted a loose ASCii Stick Zero 3. Tnhe pictures were out of focus, but something looked wrong with the graphic top-sheet. After messaging the seller, he admitted that the top sheet is peeling back from hand perspiration and that the joystick shaft is also corroded from sweat. He has relisted is a handful of times over the years and it remains unsold at $100.

Late this summer, I stumbled upon a seller offering both the ASCii Stick Zero 3 and also a programmable ASCii Stick (Pro ?)
I messaged him to inquire further about condition and functionality. Everything seemed good, so I purchased it for a little over $100 shipped.

This was it! I finally had it! The ultimate joystick for PS and PS2!!!
As a serious Rez player I had long ago purchased the Trance Vibrator, unfortunately it was pointless to play the game with a joystick that lacked vibration function. I own the only Hori stick which has vibration, but that stick is floppy and clicky and the buttons are poor. So I never played Rez on PS2 effectively (high scoring / pink butterfly ending).

First thing I do when the ASCII Stick Zero 3 arrives is dig out Rez and the Trancevibrator, hook up some headphones, get comfortable and ready to jam out. Bah!!!! What!!?! The friggin thing doesn't work!!!!

This is already long winded so lemme cut to the chase. The ASCii Stick Zero 3 does not function on almost all PS2 games!
I have never before nor since heard of any PS1 joystick not functioning on PS2, but this one, my Holy Grail, is not fully compatible with PS2 games!

Of course I contacted the seller and he says it worked on the games he played. What to do?! I tested it on probably 50 PS2 games and the only ones it works for were Shooting Love (Trizeal) and Metal Slug 6. Interestingly the controller does not work with Metal Slug 6 on the Complete Collection, only on the stand-alone JPN import release!
On all other PS2 games the joystick (in neutral position) sends a signal of up, and or diagonal up/left. The cursor on a menu just flips rapidly up, or if I manage to start a game the on screen response is stuck to the "Up" position. In Rez the cursor just gets stick in the upper left corner of the screen! ARRRGGHhh!

I'd already done thorough research on this controller on the internet during the years I was trying to purchase one. I proceeded to spend even more hours looking for reports of this PS2 incompatibility - I have found none!

It pains me to look at it, knowing I'll never have a good PS2 joystick with rumble function to play Rez (until I build my own), but it is one of the only optical joysticks for the original Playstation, so I still put it to use with shmups and platformers on that system. Just sucks having to switch controllers when I pop in a PS2 game.

    Default Master System UPC Sonic

Without question, this is my holy grail- not just for SMS games, but for my entire collection. I've been looking for it for over 6 years now, and despite recently getting access to considerable resources that I would like to use to purchase it, no one seems willing to sell! Se la vie

Nintendo 64 DD with some games. Don't need the entire lot, but would definitely want to pick up F-Zero X Expansion pack and Sim City. Had considered buying one years ago, when prices weren't too bad, but never did. Now, the best prices I am seeing are definitely out of my price range. But oh well, maybe one day.

A Gradius arcade cab. I'm terrible at Gradius, but the games are so addictive, I love them.

I'd love to get this too - Hebereke's Popoon is a great game and me and my friends absolutely love it and can play it for hours. It'd be great to try and put that in an actual cab.

No doubt all my wishes and wants will change though, they always do.

For me it has to be the Majora's Mask Limited Adventure Set. I would give a kidney for that beast in MINT condition.

There are several, but one I can think of is our CIB Condor Attack for 2600. That is, if I can still find it...

I'd love to own a fully working Turtles in Time arcade machine/cabinet. I'm sure with some effort I could track one down but I don't have that kind of money.

That would be the crowning gem of my mancave.

Mine at this point are pretty much all arcade games. They are the big ones too that I would need a house to contain them.

The 2 I want really bad are Top Skater and a sit down Initial D. I have not played the versions of Initial D that were not on Naomi, but having a Naomi Initial D would be awesome, because as far as I know, I could start at v1 and work my way through just using the newer versions and security key things
