Default Zelda Ocarina of Time - 2D!

Okay, apparently this might be old news. I found this on the CAG boards, but it blew my mind as I'm a hardcore Zelda fan from of the original nintendo generation.

This guy, bless his soul, is re-creating Zelda 64/ OOT with Zelda Link to the Past/ SNES style graphics, it looks really promissing, totally 2D! The project is not complete yet, but there are some demos available for DL. "I'm as happy as a little giiiirl."

    Check it out at:

If you check out his forums then you'll notice he plans to do Majora's Mask and Wind Wake rin 2D once he's done with OOT.

yeah, i saw this awhile ago too, but i just checked it out again, and it looks like that guy is making some progress... there were no dungeoun screen shots the last time i looked. it'd be really cool if this actually got completed... but i'm thinking this is waaaay too much of a time investment to be finished the way it should be.

    Conundrum:

There aren't enough buttons on the GBA for this game.

Were 4 buttons and 2 shoulders on the thing too much to ask?

That's a good call, there are'nt enough buttons on the GBA to do the job. Maybe the Start & Select Buttons could be used or simoultaneous button combos. That does suck, there's gotta be a way around it.

They should have given it 4 regular buttons and the 2 shoulders to begin with.

That looks amazing so far. I never heard of it until today.

Maybe for the next Gameboy, Nintendo will put on more buttons.

Damn looks like a cool game but too bad it can't be ported to gba but maybe it could be ported to snes if that would be possible.

Which is why it's got nothing to do with the GBA, it's only for PC.

Replying to what Queen of the Felines said at the end of the locked thread.

Virtual PC is a piece of shit on anything but the top end PowerMac. And even then, it's shittier now that Microsoft has destroyed it.

    So I reiterate;
FUCKING PC ONLY SON OF A BITCH CLUELESS ASSHOLE WITH TOO MUCH TIME ON HIS HANDS AND DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE LITTLE GUY!!!!

Couldn't this be flashed onto a GBA ram cart? Like a multi-cart?

As for the "gba doesnt have enough buttons" problem...solved here:

Gideon, yup, the PowerMac. Every iteration of the Mac since the days of the Quadra, have been PowerMacs. It's just that we now refer to them as per the generation of the PowerMac chip (Motorola's G3 and G4 chips, and IBM's G5 chip).

Anyway, back to the ongoing story of the 2D Ocarina of Time...
