Modding the Atari Lynx hardware

I was wondering, are there any ways to make this beast more power efficient? Perhaps replacing the backlight with a more efficient LED lighting source?

I find the Lynx's screen quite good compared to the GameGear. I've been playing Chip's Challenge and Ishido lately. IMO the only 2 games worth playing out of the 10 or 12 I have. The only mod I would make would be to change the connector type for the power supply to accept a standard female plug.

There is an old thread on Atariage.com forum, under Kynx abotu LED based backlighting. Not sure if anything's been done yet but I've seen something that might do better than directly aiming LED to the LCD but I have to look it up.
