    Default Wizards & Warriors (NES)

    I need help.

I was playing this last night and I got to the top of the trees (just under the leaves that is) and there's that other night flailing around trying to kick my ass. I can't seem to kill him. What am I missing? I tried stabbing him with the sword. I tried hitting him with that throwing knife. Nothing worked, and it's been so long since I played this that I drew a blank.

And how the hell am I supposed to get that chest sitting on top of the foliage?

I don't know why I like this game I just do. I think it's a Rare thing (I started playing this right after playing a little RC Pro Am).

The knight is invincible, so you can't kill him. You have to "buy him off." If memory serves, he'll have a speech bubble that says "200" or some other number. That is the number of gems you must collect before he'll move away. Then you can go down the hollow tree.

As for reaching the chest, I believe the best way is to go up to the branch platform next to the invincible knight, and wait for some flying enemies to appear. Then jump straight up and try to land on an enemy (this will take some of your health). If you time it right, you'll bounce upward just a little bit and land on top of the trees. Then you can get above the chest and jump down to it. There are hidden rooms up there too. You also might be able to reach the chest by getting a pink potion, which lets you jump higher.

It's been a while since I've played so I may be remembering things wrong.

    You 'da man!

He's got "100" sitting on top of his head. For some stupid reason I thought I'd get 100 gems if I killed him. Duh. I'm willing to bet you're spot on. Thanks.
