    Default Castlevania: SOTN help!

If anyone can help me with this one, I would be greatly appreciative.

I just got the Fairie card, which is my first familiar.

Only problem is, I have no idea how to summon it. The gamefaq walkthroughs, etc are no help, and the manual doesn't say.

I am sure this is fairly simple, but I must be retarded or something.

    Ideas?

    Thanks,
    Steve

It could be more complicated than I am remembering it but you either equip it on your body or as a charm. I remember equiping it.. also you have to wait for less than a second or so before the familliar will drift into view, I believe.

I liked the devil the best.. I remember reading there was a second devil/gargoyle familliar in the Japanese version that was left out of the North American release.. can be hacked out with a cheat device though.

Oh, now I remember! You access a sub menu through the paused game and you can turn it on or off when you see a list of cards and such.

Try hitting those L and R buttons or cycling with the d-pad left and right. DON'T GIVE UP LIL' BOOGY

I haven't played SOTN in ages myself, but Bratwurst is right. You can do this with all the other familiars, but you can only activate one at a time. I had the Sword familiar activated throughout most of the game once I acquired it... I believe it's usually the last one most players find.

While I appreciate the help, none of these bring the familiar on screen.

I can toggle the on/off card on the relics screen. Also, I can see the familiar screen on the submenu.

However, nothing indicates how to summon them on-screen.

    HELP ME.....AAaaghh!

OK, now I could be wrong....but I do remember maxing out every familiar in that game, as they raise in levels as you go along.

I remember sitting in the merman/fishman room toward the beiginning of the game and just slaughtering thousands of them to level up...

I don't remember ever having a problem selecting them though.

I remember just turning the card to on and waiting a few seconds for the Familiar to float on screen. I never really liked the familiar that much anyhow.

Hmm... I got bored enough to actually dust of my PSX and load up the newest save that wasn't Richter. , I already had the Fairy out. You just put the Faerie card to 'ON' and she floats in from the top.

There are several releases of the disc, maybe a bug with the version you have.

I just did the same. Works like a charm here.

    Yep, seems to work now.

For some reason, when I just had the fairy, nothing would happen when I switched it to "ON".

When I got another familiar card, it works just fine now.

    Who knows?!

    Thanks everyone for your input!

Thanks to you, I'm now wearing triangular holes (from the official Playstation controller) into my thumb. I just found out how to do jump/punch thing (down, up, jump) with Richter that gives him access to stuff that was formerly inaccessable.

Anybody know how to get into the top castle (past the broken stairs) with Ricther?
