Default NES Mega Man: No Security Screws?

Hi. I picked up a copy of Mega Man the other day and apparently missed something during my in-store inspection. The cart is not held together with security screws but instead uses weird, little flat-heads. This is the first time I've ever encountered anything of this sort. I'd wager that it's not OEM, but I was wondering if there are any games that don't use security screws--for whatever reason--and whether or not Mega Man could be one of them. As always, thanks in advance, guys.

In the very first days of the NES, they didn't used the security bits, only standart screws. All early title by Nintendo are like this and some other early release by other company are also like this.

Yeah, man, pick up any SMB, or Duckhunt or Wild Gunman or Hogan's Alley etc and they should have the flathead screws.

From what I've got, I have come to the conclusion that they used 5 normal screws up until the end of 1987. Any first or third-party game that came out in 1987 or earlier will exist in AT LEAST the 5 normal screw variety. Almost all of these pre-1988 games also had subsequent print-runs in the more common '3 security screw' version. As well, many of my 1988 games have 3 flathead screws instead of 3 security screws so I assume that they had a glut of extra flatheads to go through when they initially made the swith to 3 screws from 5. I have never seen a game released in 1988 or later with 5 flatheads, has anyone else?

Is that confusing enough for you?

I understand; it makes sense. Mega Man had three flat-heads.
