Default I could use a little help with something I found.

Well, at the beginning of each week, I generally take $20 out of my account to use for gas, and in case I find anything at the local thrifts/pawn shops. I usually end up using the same $20 for a few weeks since I never find anything worthwhile, but I found a load of stuff this week:

    http://www.stormpages.com/downfallsmb/goodwill.html

Ended up spending more like $30, but that's because of the PS2 game.

    Got the following:

    PS2 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 15.00
    Odyssey 2 - Breakdown/Blockout - CIB - 1.00
    NES Controller - 1.50
    Genesis Joystick - .50
    Sonic The Hedgehog - CIB - $3.00
    Genesis Game Genie - $3.00
    Sonic The Hedgehog 3 - CB - $3.00
    Beavis and Butthead - CIB - $1.00

and here's where I need some help.

    Sonic The Hedgehog - $1.00
    Streets of Rage 2 - $1.00
    Sonic and Knuckles - $1.00

All three of these have NOT FOR RESALE prominately featured on the front of the game. I'm assuming the Sonic/Streets of Rage games were used in store kiosks as demos or whatever, but I'm not sure about the Sonic and Knuckles. It just has that little sticker that says NOT FOR RESALE on it, but other than that, I can't really spot any differences. What's the story with these carts? Worth more? Worth nothing? I know nothing when it comes to collecting Sega games, except how to spend my money on them, so that's why I'm asking.

If anything, they will be worth less, since the "Not For Resale" labeled carts were the ones that were packed in with the system...

Well nice finds anyways, I have loved every single sonic game made, so thais a nice find compared to the ten dollars they charged for Sonic and Knuckles.

Or klimatroll, if you don't have anything useful to add, you could just ignore the topic.

Anyway, the carts are exactly what you said, store kiosk demos.

They are bit for byte the same as the originals. I know Sonic and SoR2 are pretty common, but I can't verify the rarity of the Sonic and Knuckles kiosk demo.

Hey siskokid at least I didn't stoop to name calling -that's weak. Maybe he just could have worded the topic differently -to exclude "this week's finds.." that was my only issue.

well I screwed this up pretty good - sorry ya'll.

I can change the topic title if I can still edit it. I didn't post it in that thread, because that's usually more of a "hey, look at what I got thread". I had a legit question, and in posting on various boards/reading them, I know that more often than not when you post a question in a big topic like that, it ends up lost in the shuffle and you never get an answer.

Anyway, that's two different answers. The pack-in game idea makes sense to me, as does the store kiosk demo idea. So which one is it really? I'm more concerned with the correct answer than I am with the value or rarity, because it's Sonic/SoR/S&K.. not exactly "holy grails" of collecting or anything.

Thanks for your help already though!

I've always said if you can't post anything helpfull -- and NICE -- don't ppost anything at all. We've allready had way too many threads here locked because of one person.

Actually, I read your name wrong. The "name calling" was completely accidental and unintentional. Sorry for that.

    Anyway: Downfall,

I never purchased a Sega Genesis...flat out. I *do* distinctively remember a Sonic with the "Not For Resale" label in a Sears kiosk back in the day though. Doesn't necessarily mean much, perhaps some one who bought the system like this can shed some light. All I know is that this version is dirt common.

Also, this has a clamshell case that hase a "Not For Resale" label on it as well. The manual is the typical manual...no labels.

    Thanks again.

I never owned a Genesis either, but I did occassionally play one in the later days of the system (1995 or so.. whenever Vectorman was released), as I had a friend that would let me play his. I do remember the cool store kiosks with the six games in it.. always played X-Men on that at Hills.. and BEST. But other than that, I knew little to nothing about Genesis except what I read in magazines. I never remembered seeing the "not for resale" carts either.. seems like I would have if I did see them considering how obnoxious the label is. Anyway, thanks again for your help, I appreciate it.

And, for the record.. not trying to stir anything else up, but I also read your name as klimatroll8, and spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out where sisko called you a name with no luck.
