    Default Ikaruga: pronounciation?

    Hey gang, is it:

    Long "I": EYE-KUH-ROO-GAH,

    Short "I": ICK-UH-ROO-GAH or

    Long "E": EEE-KUH-ROO-GAH?

From my 10 credit hours of Japanese

    EEE

    KA (like in CAr)

LU (like in LUlu, r in Japanese is pronounced more like l)

    GA

    or EEE-KA-LU-GA

    No "woo"...

Captain Wrong's got it, but to be more specific, the "r" is actually a flap of the tongue -- in some words it will sound (to an English speaker) more like an "l", in others an "r", and in other cases and/or at the same time a bit like a "d". In English, the "r" is with the tongue curled back, the "l" is with the tongue by the teeth, and the "d" is like "r" but actually touching (or closer to, anyway) the roof of the mouth. The Japanese character written as "r" here is more like the "r" or "d" position, but pronounced/sounded more like the English "l". I'm not sure if that helps or not...

Does anyone know where the accent is though? Is it "ee-kah-RU-gah" or "ee-KAH-ru-gah"?

That's another good reason for Treasure to give Ikaruga a story mode --so we can learn the proper way to say the game's title.

I've just reserved a copy for myself today. I know it's OT to the topic slightly, but...

Right. Are there any Import-game-player-disc-things that WON'T run Ikaruga on my UK DC, if anyone knows?
