I just started playing this 2 nights ago and so far think its a great game.
Does anyone have any helpful hints or info I should know? I know about gamefaqs and other sources, but thought I would pick my fellow DP members brains on the subject.

I played it up to the Wookie Area and sort of lost interest there. It is overall a great game and it was pretty straight forward , you should not need too much help. If your not buying the strategy guide, than gamefaqs.com is the way to go.
Yea I played it for about 15-20 hours and then it got boring IMO. Awsome game, definitly one of the top 5 for 2003. Helpful tips? hmm...I cant really give any since I have not played the game for many months.
Having just played and finished the PC version, the best advice I can give you is decide if you want to go light or dark early and hone your skills and abilities for that. And save before major events, so you can see what effect on force points your conversation choices have. Explore planets and do all the subquests for some nice bonuses and talk to everyone a lot.

Thanks for the advice SoulBlazer !
Also for anyone else out there...I will be getting XBOX live within the next 2 weeks. Does anybody play it online?

You can't play it online. And as far as a tip, if you plan on playing through it twice for the light side and dark side endinggs, then play the light side first. The Dark Side may spoil you because it's so much more fun to be dark.

I just noticed that last night when I got home. I am just looking foward to playing my XBOX online when I get Steel battalion LOC
I am about 7 hours into the game and have been going with the whole light side thing. So I think I will stay that path until I play it through again

My only advice is to save early save often when you get to the dune sea
when you level up, see what the game suggests for your new stats, then play around with your own choices before committing. spend as much time leveling up in each new area (go back and forth between spots where enemies regenerate) so that the boss fights will be less work. also, remember that stuff like swoop racing is optional. i found it to be annoying after about 20 races, so i left a subquest hanging. also, talk to your party members until they'll say no more.sometimes you'll be prompted to speak to them, other times you'll have to take the initiative...
Thanks for the suggestion. I have heard about some bugs in this game and it is important to save often. Has anyone come across these problems?

Just a little bump on this topic...
It seems like Bioware has finally released their Xbox Live content. Included are:
-New armor and weapons
-A space station in orbit around Yavin
Has anyone tried them out yet? I don't have Live here, but I'd like to know how the new area / items are. So, if you've got Xbox Live, go download the new stuff!
I Just read that on GameFAQS. Im gonna hop onright now and do some Downloading.... report back soon
:::EDIT:::
This 1545 block save gives you a few new waeopns and a new area, some lightsabre crystals and some other stuff. Catch is that you need to go to this merchant in the new area to buy them from him..... Ah sneaky devils.....
Let me just say.. HOLY CRAP! I get more KotoR goodness? Thats the straw that broke my long procrastination about getting XBox Live and rigging up a network in my house.
SF - Too lazy to build his own network, but he'll build Joe's.
Cool, its about time. This gives me even more of a reason to play through it again. I was hoping for a bit more though, as I think the new content is just stuff that they included in the PC version (I now the space station is for sure). Definitely a great game though and one of the best RPGs this generation.Originally Posted by IntvGene
Did this game ship with bugs in the first printing? It's Platinum Hits now and only twenty dollars new at Target. I found a used copy that's non-PH in my store that I can get for $11.99 with my store discount, but I don't want it to lock up on me...
Currently catching up on PSN, WiiWare, Wii U E-Shop and Xbox Live Arcade exclusives I missed.
There were a couple of bugs, most notably built around the stealth skills. One conversation sequence in particular wouldn't trigger if you entered into it with an invisibility belt on, because the other character would almost always fail the roll to see you, and wouldn't begin speaking.
Don't let that stop you, KOTOR is easily one of the best role-playing games ever made, and should be experienced by uh... well, everyone.
EDIT: Just to emphasize: It single-handedly restored the love for Star Wars that I carry within me, love that I thought was forever shattered by episodes I & II.

Then does the greatest hits version of KOTOR have bug fixes that make it preferable to the original issue of the game?
