Default Classic gameboy game related question - real or fake? help??

ok I would like some help with this one as I've come full circle on this once again.

I know of a place that is selling gameboy games (origianl b&w games), and they come in their boxes, new (though certainly resealed).

Amongst these sits MR.DO which is one of the rarest/most sought games for gameboy. They have a couple of these.

Well a couple of months back I bought one to take a look. I don't know much about gameboy games - next to nothing infact.
What I did percieve was that the cart itself looked original enough (though the print quality was not the best in the world - very slightly blurry - is this normal?)

other details? the manual looked like it had been printed by a 5 year old - very sloppy within.

the box - had various nintendo 'water marks' and had the side similar to this:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=62053

I am only using this to highlight the blue/grey sidebar which has GAMEBOY running down it. notice it has a slight woodgrain look to it? with a darker blue coming through? well on this box its even more evident.

I just want to put this matter to rest. these games are being sold for the equivalent of 5 dollars each, and they have more. my gut tells me they are fakes but I want to make sure. Anyone have boots of Gameboy games?
    please help??

    thanks in advance

The seller is in Hong Kong, that is without a doubt a fake. I wouldn't buy anything from there, ever. Unless I didn't care about bootlegs.

An easy way to find out of a GB game is fake is to check the cover under some light and see if there is a 2-digit number imprinted on it somewhere. ALL licensed copies of GB games, from each generation, has it somewhere on the cover.

Most auctions I've ever seen from Hong Kong sellers just used a stock photo, instead of showing you the actual item, then you look through feedback comments and see a couple dozen negative feedbacks specifically mentioning bootlegged products, to which the seller doesn't respond. It's kind of hard to place much faith in any auctions coming out of HK because of stuff like that.

Hong Kong seller doesn't mean = fake, especially since making bootlegs isn't quite That easy, and also that this is a (deservedly) less popular game, has the original plastic hanger attached, and has the right high-quality printing as the original box would've makes this look pretty darn legit to me.

The only problem with this auction that I see is the price on it -- holy mackeravania! :D

It seems to me that if they're only charging $5, then they'd probably make a lot more money by making bootlegs of popular games like Pokemon and such instead of Mr. Do...

And Castlevania for $190??? Is it really that rare???

It's not rare, but in that condition...I can't really see where he's coming from, but he probably thinks Castlevania + sealed (-Rondo) = still big buxx! Its obscure! and stuff! R4R3 L@@K! LOL

It's not really that great of a Castlevania game either.

Actually, it's a really shitty Castlevania game, except that the stage one music and the nice graphics carry it pretty far. Gotta love a game that lets you get into secret rooms by detonating an eyeball above a weak section of floor. >)
