Default Thinking of getting a GBA Flash cart and cart reader

    Hi Folks,

I am wanting to do some rom hacking and I've got a few protos I want to back up too before bitrot sets in (I also want to compare them to the originals, data-wise).

Can any GBA experts out there reccomend the best solution/option?

I am basically looking for a device to dump my carts and a flash cart to write my hacks to.

Also, does anyone know of any save state devices for the GB or GBA (like the Game Action Replay for NES). Do any of these GBA backup devices do this (I hear plenty of SNES ones did).

Thanks so much for your help! I just see so many different vesrions of the flash cart.dumper packages, and it's very overwhelming trying to judge which option is best!

I'd suggest the EZF 256 RTC card. you can pick it up at www.mwelectronics.com. a few people here on the boards have them. It's a neato little toy. You can dump your gba carts to disk. No .sav state support though. Don't get that confused with regular saving, it does that, just not save states (ala save/load any time you want cheater!)

The one that I got from www.mwelectronics.com was $107 shipped. They accept paypal and communicate quickly. item came in just a few days. It's worth it.

Don't lose the cable or you are screwed! I'm sure you can get a new one, but it would be a hassle for sure.

I have the one Jive recommends and I'm very happy with it. Actually, I bought 8 of them for friends and family and it worked out perfectly.

They sure are neat toys, I can't wait to get mine- I ordered it from Micmic.net 7 months ago. It's going to be sooooo great and worth the $150 those rat screwing bastards stole from me....

Yeah, so, just so you know: Micmic = Don't buy, they're rat screwing bastards who stole my money.

    Hi Folks,

I just got mine in the mail!

While it does rock, I can not get this thing to dump my GB orr GB Color games.

    Any tips?

And if you are going to tell me it doesn't do this...sigh..so be it. It's cool anyway. So....if it is the case, then any reccomendations on a GB/GBC dumper (thatdumps saves too)? Should I start a new thread?

    Thanks again!

    Yours,

    Rob
