Anybody else right click and save that picture for when it disappears in a couple of days?

I think it does exactly what it's supposed to do -- and that is, conjure up memories of the classic NES and make people like us want to buy one.

Excitebike and Mario are two of the ROMs that get constant usage on my GP32. For less than the price of this new GBA SP and one of those games, I've got the entire NES library on one memory card. I know, emulation, boo, hiss, but I got tired of waiting on Nintendo.

Give it a couple weeks and you can buy the skin from lik-sang, It looks cool, the two tone one I saw anyway the pic above you can't really tell. I bought a Plat SP thou, no need for a Nes version, I wouldn't drop another Ben on that. Those Classic series games are neat, but as someone else mentioned my flash cart & PocketNES that's all you need. It's really a mute point now. I've got every Nes game I could ever want all on one cart, no e-reader cards to fool with, no $20 carts of individual titles. But if I was still waiting on an SP this would be the one I would buy, assuming something like this did come out. :/

    Not sure what to think.

I just hope that if/when one is released, it has a nice ribbed black strip on the top.

I agree with Flack, except that I emulate using a GBA Flashcart. I bought the FAmicon SP version and have not used it. I might buy the NES SP and keep that boxed also. However, I will not buy the repackaged games for $30 each. I'm not that nostalgic that I want to bend over for Nintendo (the way I did when I was 16 and bought all those games for over $30 the first time) again.

I hope Nintendo is really doing this. It would be NICE! However, I think that if Nintendo does rerelease those games, the price should be lower than an average GBA game.

BTW, I saw the image linked on that site that was linked (the picture in color), and it does look pretty purchase-worthy. Just looked really bad in that newsprint pic posted here...

I wonder if the screen will blink a few times when you put carts in, just to add to the authentic feeling??

I'm not terribly excited about the NES-style GBA... I mean hell, I already a GBA, I'm certainly not going to buy another one regardless of what stickers they put on it. I'm happy with my old-skool non-SP GBA. Do you guys actually buy multiple GBA's just because of these silly theme skins?

However, I like the idea of the games. Although this basically obsoletes the e-Reader (which is unfortunate), I look forward to picking some of these up for cheap (although even $20 seems a little on the high side... maybe if they come down a little more).

What would REALLY be a selling point would be if the cartridges themselves were shaped like mini NES cartridges. I think that would be freakin' awesome to have a working, miniature SMB cartridge. From what I can tell though, Nintendo didn't design the Japanese ones like Famicom cartridges, so this is sadly unlikely to happen here. Bah, if only Nintendo would ask my opinion before they do stuff :P

Well, I guess I'll share my opinions. I would really like to see this released but I think we're fooling ourselves. The US never gets anything cool or special so why would things change? Also, I wouldn't buy it until it hit discount sections with a tacky "skin" like that. It looks ridiculous.....I mean, I like the concept but if it's going to be a skin then forget it. Make it a solid piece of a equipment, I mean...the Fami SP only looked great because the portions that made it the Fami SP aren't going to peal, the colors will do thier own work. As well, I find it very very odd that Pacman, Xevious, and Bomberman would be released as well....why would N help out other companies?

EDIT: Just checked out the 2nd page I still have some doubts about some of this. Did anybody read the quotes in the article? wtf.... But anyways, I hold true to my claim, if it's a sticker....no way. I may purchase a game or two....but man.....talk about a stretch.

FYI: In Japan the rerealesed Famicom classics were slightly cheaper than regular games.

This would indicate a probable $24.99 SRP in the US, which is ridiculous for one game.

The Famicom is a great looking console, even today.

The NES is an ugly grey brick of a system, especially today.

That said this one still looks pretty good but I must echo what someone else said. If it's a sticker. Just say no.

Hey, this is a community built on trust, and besides, there wasn't anything suspicious at all about it.

As for the NES GBA unit...what we've got there looks like a render, unfortunately. A sticker?? Hell no, Nintendo isn't gonna release something that'll come off like a GameSkin (only messy).

I honestly like the NES design, but part of that is 'cuz my NES is minty fresh :)

I can't comment too much on the original Famicom Design because the Sharp Twin Famicom is where it's all at :)
