    Default Thumb Candy Documentary

Just a quick heads-up... the Channel 4 documentary, Thumb Candy: Iain Lee's Brief History of Videogames has been reposted to your local newsgroup. The documentary is from 2000 I think, so you won't see much on the new consoles, but it is supposed to be decent. Anyway, I haven't seen it, so I am going to give it a shot, and maybe I'll post my impressions later.

Yeah, I remember watching it when it was first broadcast. Not bad for a quick skim over the ~20-year history, but don't expect much in-depth analysis. It's a shame that Iain Lee is such an irritating twerp aswell.

Well, it was worth watching. It does have its faults, and REALLY skims over lots, including the 16-bit and 32-bit stuff, but I didn't really mind, I was more interested in the arcades anyway. It's a UK production, in case anyone else didn't know, and so devotes some time to the Spectrum Sinclair. It's funny, but I think many non-UKers would be wondering what it's doing in there. Either way, you still got to see some interesting stuff, and some interviews with some of the videogame legends.

I agree that the host is annoying too.. but at least you could tell that it was someone who enjoyed videogames, even if he wasn't terribly good at them.

Hmmm.. I wonder who posted that .. *cough* Yeah, you're welcome

<edit> look out for the OTHER documentary.. the one from GSN. I think everybody's favorite Starcade & Icons episode poster (no, that's not me) is gearing up to post that one.

    Very much appreciated!

Anything VG related has to be better than what's on my TV now. Obviously, no G4 here..

And, if more Starcade is on the way, maybe Geoff Edwards will stop appearing in my dreams.... who am I kidding, that'll never happen.

Geez, I'm such a leech for those things.

Regarding the Video Game Videos on Usenet, did anyone else grab the 'Exidy Warehouse' .avi a few weeks back? Geez, that thing made me want to cry. 'Course, there's a chance the poster or original camerman is on this Forum. Care to stand up, Mr. Camerman?

Sorry Adam, I should have put that in the original post. It's alt.binaries.emulators.misc. The 2nd documentary that NE146 mentioned is being put up as I write. So, go get them both.
