Default Good PSX/PS2 Joystick for Retrogaming?

Playing Ms. Pac-Man with a D-pad is a couple of notches short of bliss, in my book. And don't even mention dual-you-know-what. I've got the Pelican "fighting" stick and find it to be utterly mediocre, and especially crappy at picking up my diagonal inputs. I don't feel any clicky microswitches in it, either. What's the good stick for my Sony retrogaming machine?

i dont have one yet, but i will be getting one once i can motivate myself to build some sort of stand for it.

expensive, but it seems like a nice joystick, especially since you can get adaptors to use with other systems.
